New pics etc I have not seen before.

Obviously only a persoanl opinion but I really like what I see, elegant, retro references (ok the bubble chairs in the disco I am not sure about), clean, but also modern. Very different to all the others so distinctive as well. Bravo.

I can see myself booking Solstice very soon.

The renderings on the site are amazing. IMO, the pool deck is a departure from other ships with the use of the pillars and glass. Its has that resort feeling. I also like the library. If I am not mistaken the two deck high library will be right off the atrium.

I agree with mike sa, its elegant, modern, and clean. She will be a great addition to the Celebrity fleet.

On the last 2 Celebrity cruises I have done I must admit that I thought the food had declined in quality, however the partnership with Liz Blau etc I hope means on my next one the food will return to being as good as was previously and I hope may prove to be slightly less predictable and more imaginative to match the Solstice's decor !

I've had another look after seeing these images and had a close look at the suites in particular, The Royal suite really does look good and in terms of style better than those on the Millie class but not alot bigger, I'll have to check but the veranda does seem a bit smaller than the same suites on the Millie, both have hot tubs but I recall the actual space seemed so much bigger. I still want to see what the large internal multi deck spaces might be on the deck plans. I do wish they would add MUTS in the Solarium but ONLY in the evenings. Or perhaps the sports deck could be converted with special deck chairs at night AND please install a bar you can sit at and watch the movie.

I know it is a possible noise issue but would love a flat screen out on the veranda as well. I have one in the outside pool lounge here and use it all the time.

This is the first time Ive ever liked the ultra-modern decor, Celebrity has done a great job keeping the spaces with a warm feeling but still with modern style, can't wait to see more.

In a word ... FABULOUS! No wonder Celebrity is my favorite large ship cruise line! It's obvious the Celebrity fleet will continue to the be the most stylish afloat with the introduction of the Solstice Class. I'm booked on the inaugural and can't wait!

Currently onboard DAWN PRINCESS which is not so stylish.

Fantastic! Farcus should study these images and repent.

Still, it is a shame about the ship's exterior. Especially those funnels. I wish Celebrity had used as much care designing her exterior as they clearly did her interior.

BTW, have her deckplans been updated to show the new details released?

Good lord .... NO MUTS PLEASE!

No cruise line is "just" going to use it at night. That was the original intent hence the title but no one follows it. Cruise lines are just too tempted to make it "more".

MUTS is on Costa, Carnival, and Princess. It doesn't need to be on Celebrity too.

She does look quite good internally. The funny thing about her exterior, is that they still hired a fancy yacht designer, like they did with the late John Bannenberg for the previous ships, just a different one, Francis Design. I like the Bannenberg designs better

As I recall, the original MUTS were really a projector and a canvas tarp. I would be "ok" if Celebrity do something similar to this.

e.g. Seabourn has film screenings on the open deck - there is certainly nothing wrong with that. A screen that is running ALL THE TIME is of course a nightmare.

This looks quite spectacular indeed.

SOLSTICE will be much too big for my taste but at least from these renderings, her interiors look quite spectacular. (As do all the current Celebrity ships, from the photos I've seen - as has been discussed at length elsewhere , I have not had the chance to go on one of them.)

It is a pity that she seems to follow the MILLENNIUM-class in being ugly outside ! (Jon Bannenberg was an amazing designer, but even he had his less illustrious works and IMHO they are among them.)

Oh and I have forgotten to say, please no MUTS on Celebrity! Please? This is one of the (IMHO few - and elegant ship design is another one) ways in which it distinguishes itself from the "mass market" lines. Such a thing does not belong on any line with even a pretense toward refinement.

The renderings look excellent and (to me, at least), are evocative of Celebrity's original yacht-like interiors on Horizon/Zenith.

Hopefully Solstice will look as good in reality as she does on paper.

And is it just me or could the pool deck use some foliage/greenery?

If I'm not mistaken, this is also the most of Solstice's exterior which we've seen:

Oh dear, must we start this again ?

I put "mass market" in quotes in the sense that I mean the lines Celebrity would consider mass market (Royal Caribbean, Princess, Carnival, NCL).

Celebrity is of course a mass market line, albeit (IMHO) one of the nicer ones. The introduction of MUTS would degrade its position as such.

But then who are we to judge? I have only been on Celebrity three times and you once ...

By "MUTS" I (and I thought others, but perhaps not?) are referring specifically to the type of system introduced by Princess and now present on Carnival, Costa, MSC and perhaps a few others... That is, a big color screen in the main pool area that is, at least usually, running all the time.

What is done on e.g. Silversea and QM2 is very different and is not objectionable to me (and also predates MUTS on Princess).

Of course Doug! Seems at least you understand what I was saying. MUTS refers specifically to the large video screens that can be seen (and heard) both day and night by the swimming pools. Usually they have a 50 million watt sound system to ensure that anyone in a 50 mile radious can hear it. Personally I can't stand it. The term "MUTS" is something that might even be copyrighted by Princess Cruises. Unfortunately other cruise lines have followed the lead of Princess, specifically Disney, MSC Cruises, Costa, and Carnival.

MUTS started out innocent enough. Movies under the stars. It has turned into something quite different. It most all day and into the night playing cartoons, music videos, CNN, video game competitions, and yes, on occassion even movies. On Princess, they even play marriage proposals that have been pre-recorded.

What lines like Silvsersea, Cunard, and Seabourn have is quite different. Basically a traditional screen that set up on certain evenings to play a movie in the open air, and yes, under the stars.

I have experienced both and they are night and day.

Ernie

Yes, I know what you meant, the point I made was missed. It makes no odds if a movie is shown by means of a LED screen or by projection. MUTS is fine if there for the purpose of evening or even afternoon movies. Only if endless adverts are screened or music movies played all day making it intrusive, would it become objectionable to some. The mere fact a screen may be there means nothing, it's in the use thereof that matters, whatever cruiseline, or wherever place any cruiseline feels they are or would like to be in the pretension hierarchy. Celebrity's "pretense toward refinement" is rather amusing to mull over.

Pam
