Thad, thanks so much for those pictures! I had not laid eyes on a passenger ship in over half a decade, so when I heard that QM2 would be in Boston for the day, I decided to drive the 90 miles and finally introduce myself to the reigning monarch of all ships. When I found out two more ships would be in port with her, it only added to my anticipation. The moment I saw the Norwegian Majesty (the first ship visible) my heart started racing. From a little fence by the Majesty I was able to see all three ships in a row. At that moment any prejudice I had against modern passenger ship design was swept away by my love of ships. Ships like the Victory may not be my personal taste, but she is an amazing technical creation and, unlike the Aquitania, she is alive and here now. I loved her for simply being there, instead of hating her for not being something she was never meant to be. As for the Mary, I've liked her in her pictures, but have wished for a little more tradition here and there in her design. When I finally came face to face with her, I totally fell in love. The moment I saw her I knew she was a worthy successor of the previous three queens. She is the next ship I want to sail.

Excellent photos Thad, many thanks. What a day in Boston. I know just what you mean Rotterdam 1959, QM2 is something else when you meet her. Photos cannot come alive and show the aura that surrounds her in reality.

It seems many CT'ers were about the shores, Ernst too! See the clips.

I'm always impressed how far the QM2's bridge is from the dock side. It would take a very big wave to ever reach it.

After work last night, I headed down to the Black Falcon Pier to try to catch a few pics of the ships in port. We had the Crystal Symphony, Black Watch, and Norwegian Dawn at the terminal, and the Norwegian Majesty in drydock. Unfortunately with fall upon us, I did not have much light when I got down there, and my camera (or maybe it is I) does not take such great night shots, but here are a the pics anyway.
