The good ship Madagascar ex Stella Marias II.

Pam sent me a message pointing out Liner's List saying she had been sold to a South African company, I have checked it out and true she has been sold and is due to move to the fitting berth here in Durban next month to enter service in August, the website address is www.razzmatazzoceancruises.com for those of you who enjoy a laugh - yes it is one of the most hokey websites you will ever see.

Lovely little ship but totally unsuited to ocean conditions but I wish them the very best of luck - they will need it. They are claiming to be nearly sold out on some cruises so hurry if you want to book - it is amazing that with no advertising, travel agents, press or anything that they manage to sell these trips. Thanks Pam for the info.

It appears that Madagascar is still very much for sale, she was supposed to have been sold with ownership transferring on the 1st/5, she was then to move to the fitting out berth. Needless to say she is still moored next to the Sea Rescue Centre (no pun intended) and is still as was, the website promoting Razzmatazz cruises seems to have been removed or closed down.

Lets hope someone else decides to pick up, she's going cheap - anyone fancy a flutter or owning shares in a cruise ship albeit a very small one.

Oh yes I read somewhere that some guy called Reuben was involved in arranging the sale or "rescuing her" I think was the implication, evidentally he was involved in some shouting about the Norway as well, who is he - not South African I think (hope)? Does anyone know of him ?

Have you seen the interiors and the engine room? Any idea about her conditions? Just by looking at her I think she'd be perfect for coastal cruising here in Oz. How much do they want?

Had a quick look at the Marine Transportation Consultants website and it said:

"PRICE USD2.75 MILLION"

"WE SUGGEST THIS VESSEL IS ONLY USEFUL AS A FLOATING HOTEL"

"A RECENT INSPECTION BY OUR CLIENTS INDICATES THE VESSEL REQUIRES SERIOUS REFURBISHMENT"

mmmh...

Madagascar / Razzmatazz has at last moved from the Sea Rescue Centre berth where she has been for at least the 18 months or so to a fitting berth next to the floating docks at Bayhead, and evidentally she did it all on her own so the engines do work even if only for a short distance, she is due to enter service on the 31st August. I will report as and when anything happens to her. It will be nice to see her in service again. I hate the name but suspect it is only a matter of time before Princess run out of ideas, Razzmatazz Princess being no worse than Ruby.
