Can anyone shed any light on why Travelscope has apparently cancelled Athena's charter? Passengers booked on her this year are being re-booked on Van Gogh.

it is true, she does not appear any more on the Travelscope website. Some of her cruises are going to be performed by "Princess Danae".

Maybe she it is going on charter to Metropolis Tur or Swan Hellenic ?

I am still confused as to whether it is Travelscope who have pulled out of the charter [surely there are some repercussions, fees/fines?] or if CIC have recalled her as have a better offer on the cards - compensation to Travelscope?

I am not quite sure how many of the Athena cruises are now being done by Van Gogh or Princess Danae but the latter certainly has some tempting cruises from Falmouth. There is also a short repositioning from Harwich to Falmouth towards the end of May via the Isles of Scilly. A chance to sail another classic.

She certainly looked lovely when I saw her at Marseille back in 2003, see here. She was being prepared for a new cruising season and no passengers were aboard then. Ernst also has a clip of her departing La Valetta in 2005.

No news of Athena yet?

Summer itineraries are now showing on CIC's website sailing from Cobh & Dublin. That's unusual and I bet will be popular. There are gaps later on and then a cruise to the Med and a Caribbean Christmas cruise from Southampton, so I wonder what the other trips may be.

Vivamare, which is partially owned by Classic International Cruises, will perform cruises with ATHENA during the coming winter-season. I have got a new flyer for these cruises in the Mediterranean Sea. Their website has not been updated yet.

Has anyone actually sailed on the former Danae recently? A former neighbor sailed on her when she first came out for Carras Cruises and thought she was wonderful. Has she changed much inside?

I have a cruise ship list for Ijmuiden showing a call of the ATHENA on 25.07.07 - so she will not come?

Any information? - urgent, because today is the last day when I can use internet until the the end of the week

She is still in Lisbon today where she has been laid up since the Travelscope charter cancellation and commences cruises from Dublin on 27 July. So I would say she won't be at Ijmuiden on 25th.

What a luck that I know it .. so I can plan completely different, because weather forecast is not the best!

Hope to see THE TOPAZ tomorrow, but 06.30 is a very bad time for arrival .. and dept. 21.00 is not really better.
