I think it's amusing that the TV news coverage of her arrival in San Francisco keeps stressing that she only cleared the Golden Gate Bridge by 27 feet. Doesn't she come much closer to the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in New York on a constant basis?

I, don't take this as gospel but I thought I've heard that the clearance for QM2 and the Verrazano Narrows Bridge is no more than nine feet! I believe this is stated in that two hour "making of QM2" documentary from a couple of years ago. If I get a chance I'll put it on and double check.

Yes, I seem to I recall a figure of 3 meters which is just under 10 feet!
