Any of our West Coast CT'ers going to be in the area? How amazing it would be, standing on the Golden Gate Bridge watching her sail under you!

Since this is a Sunday arrival at around 3:30pm under the bridge I really hope someone out there will make it to the Bay Area and take pictures!

Yes. She has already been around Cape Horn twice. However, unlike last year she will have all 4 pods working this time.

I will try to be there since it is only an hour away.

It is not very often QM2 sails into San Francisco when I am in town.

I believe this will be QM2's maiden visit to Frisco. She called at LA last year but did not go further North.

According to the SF Port website, QM2 arrival is 8pm.

Nonetheless, I need to find a good vantage point. It would be worth researching whether bikes and pedestrians can get onto the GG Bridge after dark. I recall seeing a sign posted....

If the arrival under the Golden gate Bridge is indeed scheduled for 3:30pm, several vanatge points come to mind.

The first exit northbound after you cross the bridge turn left, then left again after you cross under the road. Follow the road uphill to the old fort and walk out to the far edge. Here you will be able to see her coming from afar, then crossing under the bridge from a very high elevation. This vantage point also allows pics of the QM2 and the skyline of San Fran in the background framed by the Golden Gate Bridge.

Its a shame you cant be at three vanatge points at the same time, because the next coolest place would be dead center on the bridge walkway as she passes under you. I have done this for years when I lived in the Bay Area and the feeling is breathtaking. Then you can watch her enter the harbour and circle.

Otherwise I would probably pic something like Coit Tower or the end of Fishermans Wharf.

For shots of her under the bridge, the ones DMWNC1 mentioned are perfect, but keep in mind, she will be going pretty fast and you won't have a lot of time taking pictures before you need to moe on. Pier 27 is un obstructed in the front, but for pictures without anything blocking the view, you'll have to be at the farthest point up at Pier 39, or from a boat.

One thing Im windering is that, will she have all the media craze like the maiden call for NY where helicopters, and roadjam?

Also try and get some great shots of her new bridge extensions from the front of the ship...Coit Tower would be a great spot for this.

Dont forget about this cool sight to monitor her were-abouts tomorrow afternoon.

It was pointed at the bow earlier! Mon I hope they fix this before the ship gets to the Golden gate Bridge! Somebody call'm and tell'm...

Personally, I think a webcam showing her going trough the Golden Gate would be MUCH more interesting that the camera aboard ->

I was watching on the AIS, she has been showing the bay... then went to check her site.. she is on a 'QM2 Welcoming' Cruise
