The 'Gulf Dream Cruise' Karachi/Dubai cruises apparently failed after one disastrous cruise in November. Dream has since been laid up in Dubai at an outer Berth, No 1, at Port Rashid. She was there on 23/24 Dec and I took a number of photos.

She was still there on 29 Dec when we arrived back - during late afternoon she moved across to Berth 6, just along from the 2 berths used for the Cruise Terminal.

She no longer appears on the Port Rashid schedules. Looking at Gulf Dream Cruise's site, she seems to have undertaken 3 short cruises to Muscat over the New Year. She should have departed at 9:00 on 30 Dec, but the above photo [bottom one] was taken at 8:00.. hardly a hive of activity? But the move across would make sense if she had been sailing somewhere that day.

So where is she now? Gone from the expected arrivals list..

Pam.. more photos in the galleries

Wow, she looks great with a dark hull, as all ships do. Nice images as always, Pam.

One of her two sisters, ex-Airtours 'Carousel' (originally Royal Caribbean's 'Nordic prince'), will of course be cruising from Tilbury this summer as Transocean's 'Arielle':See Here

She certainly looked a little different with her Viking Crown: See Here

Yes, it is a nice livery and suits her well. Remember that awful My Travel stuff on the funnel? she looked very dated then.. amazing what a smart paint job does for a vessel.

Every ship ever painted with a dark hull and white superstructure looks better to me than all white!

I wonder wht that colour combination is so rare? Is white paint cheaper? Does dark blue/black cause the hull to heat up?

I thought because lighter colors reflect heat, especially white, while darker colors like black absorb it.

What would the Grand-Class look like with a black hull and white superstructure? And Carnival's Conquest-Class or RCCL's Freedom-Class?

I think these look better in all white.

as a Caspi employeei just know that she will be back in mid March in order to "catch" the holiday season (passover), Pam thanks for the photos :-)

i'm with you Malcolm - but you should know that the ONLY(!) one in Caspi who thought that the dark livery would work better was the president Yuval Caspi - all other directors and workers (except me) keep saying that the Blue livery makes her smaller then she really is...etc..

Clever stuff Gaz Hants. However I seriously think your Grand Class is a vast improvement.

Here's another example. I like the dark-hull livery:Noordam

Noordam in Thomson's colours

Actually we can be thankful that Carnival Corp. has not (yet) given any Grand Class vessels to Holland America, or else that's how they would look. Perhaps not too bad, though--I could get used to that livery.

hi waynaro,
here is a mock up of the said cunarder.
its possible that p&o might reject the ventura as too traditional for their newer, younger clientele and at the last minute carnival transfer it to cunard as queen ventura

hi dmwcn1,
the last couple i promise. freedom looks horrible in black, but carnival liberty (is that a conquest??) looks far better when i match the blue of the crescent on the funnel to the hull.
cheers,
gary.

I actually think the grand class look OK with black hulls. Not in Cunard Livery though. If Cunard ever got one of those ships I would not like it. They are to ugly for Cunard.

I think it is just what is in style now and a big white cruise ship is what many passengers seem to expect. In the days before a/c, the white or lighter colored hulls lowered the onboard temperatures several degrees but today w/the high output HVAC systems does it really matter? Black/dark gray is good at concealing rust and rub marks etc. on a hull and that was most likely the reason it was used on most transatlantic liners. Celebrity tried to do that fussy blue, gold and red a few years ago and thankfully gave it up IMO.

I would like to see the ship in the summer during my planned (!) holiday in Rhodes or Kusadasi. Will she come to there? I cannot read the web site because there is no English version.

Who know if and when the ship come to these ports?

Her first cruise is on 15 June, her 2nd 18 June..
First call to Rhodes is on 20 June then 28 June.. and so on.. I cannot find where she calls at Kusadasi but I have only gone up until end July,
