There was much discussion earlier in the year about Joe Farcus's designs for the Costa Concordia.

For those who have yet to be dazzled by them, I have posted an album of pictures taken in September.

Nice photos .... BUT when you consider the quality of modern Italian design it just makes you want to cry!

Great photos all of them. Thank you for showing us.
I don´t know what to say about all that red and green light, but I think she is a nice ship anyway.

Sincerely René.

Red and green are only two of the rainbow of colours those lights go through. I could have posted a whole album of pictures taken in the atrium in the space of a couple of minutes, and every one would have looked different

Wow. Does anyone remember when the Italians made beautifully decorated ships? I can't think of one of these photos that would make me consider this ship. No disrespect to the photographer, of course. It's just that CarniFarcus gaudiness. And I thought Carnival Victory was bad with her green atrium!

WOW...that is one migraine inducing decor...what were they thinking of?? I doubt I could spend 5 minutes in those surroundings.

To the OP...your photos are very good...just the suject matter is frightening. And your empty deck chair photo is superb!!

Cheers, Penny

Greybeard, an interesting review.

I don’t doubt the quality of the product, but I do have one question: after a week or so onboard, does one develop an immunity to Mr Farcus's 'entertainment-architecture' or does it increasingly start to grate?

It grew on me, and I became inured to it - only partly thanks to the volume of Caipirinhas consumed.

In fact as the week wore on, I began to take delight in discovering little details which had not been apparent at first. The statues and intricate chairs in the Piano Bar Budapest, for example, and some of the stairwell artwork around the ship.

The atrium light show never ceased to fascinate, tacky as it was.

Lets be honest, Mr. Farcus is one of the few naval architects that most of us have even heard of. His work is certainly distinctive. However, everyone seems to dislike it, apart from the millions of Carnival and Costa repeat cruisers.

I think Mr. Farcus will widely be regarded as a genius….in a hundred years or so!

Wow. After a week on board the rest of the world would start to look seriously dull. I think I would head for one of those empty deck chairs. The doorknobs are sort of cute though.
