For those interested in the photo gallery I have uploaded digital images of HAL's Statendam in Sydney today. Despite its age the exterior above the darker hull is looking in excellent condition - a little rust showing closer to the waterline and around the anchor, and unlike some ships I have seen there did not appear to be any dints in the hull.

great shots - thanks for sharing. looks like nice sunny weather for visiting passengers!

noticed also that pac princess was in sydney today, a day ahead of schedule and hence had to dock at naval base as statendam and pac sun were in port also. Maybe bmajor can shed more light on this?

As far I know,it was always due on the 10th,followed by an overnight in Sydney as it is handed over to P&O Australia,then it leaves on the 11th for its first Circumnavigation cruise.It was a suprise to see it at the Naval Base though,but as soon as Pacific Sun left Darling Harbour it moved straight in.Guess they will be provisioning it overnight.From the web cam it almost looked like Princess was at Darling Harbour waitng for Sun to move out. I have seen 2 cruise ships there before,but a freighter was unloading yesterday.
Anyway the call at the Naval Base will be a good practice run for when QM2 is berthed there in Feb.

PP always spends an extra night in Sydney befopre it commences it Australian season and again at the end of the season. I assume that this extra time is for the change in crews (apparently the entertainment and cruise staff change) as well as the change of all the pricing on the ship from USD to AUD.
