Sapphire Princess was not docked at Ocean Terminal, she docked at one of the cargo terminals in Kowloon because she is too big for Ocean Terminal.

Here are the photos I took about 1.5 years ago (same place she docked few days before)

In the container port at Kwai Chung - satellite photo here, zoom out to see relationship to the rest of Hong Kong (although it looks like Google doesn't have maps at that level).

The beauty of the old Ocean Terminal was that you could walk to the Star Ferry Terminal, the Peninsula Hotel, and the shops of Nathan Road. This location seems to be at the back of beyond for a passenger ship. Great if you are a container, I guess. And if there are horseraces at the Jockey Club on the day your ship comes in, good luck in finding a taxi!

Cycling the google sat image over to the ocean terminal, it appears that there are no ships there at all. And there are monstrous high rise additions to the back of the Peninsula Hotel! Zounds!

If Star Princess could dock at the Ocean Terminal, what prevents Sapphire?

this is the offical answer from their agent.........

Maybe there are some problems in arranging the berth fot Sapphire Princess

Because I don't think she can berth at the north bridge, but on Sat, the south bridge is occupied by Star Pisces and Wasa Queen

Yes, there are some very regular visitors to Ocean Terminal now, so there is actually pressure on space as I understand it. Which is a shame, because the OT really is a peerless location to dock, if you can arrange it.
