I'm just returned from a great 9 days cruise onboard the Grandeur of the Seas.
It was a fantastic first experience with RCCL, but frankly I still prefer the Freestyle Cruising of NCL.
Here is a short review, using the stars system (1 to 5 and eventually the plus).
Due to many things to do at job I think that it will be not possible to post here a full review in the near future.
-Grandeur of the Seas (Septemper 1 to September 10 2006): 9 days to Florida and Mexico roundtrip from Baltimore.
-Itinerary: 3 stars. Three call at Florida ports(Miami, Key West and Port Canaveral) were frankly too much. Why not go to the Bahams as originally planned by RCCL.
-Service (Cabin & Restaurant): 4 stars plus. The service was attentive, warm and friendly, even if a a little bit too robotic.
-Cabins (larger outside one): 4 stars. Very good furnitures, but not enough closets. It wasn't possible to store two medium size suitcases under the beds due to the height of these. Pity no minibar in the cabin.
-Cuisine: 4 stars plus. The quality of the food was excellent and the choices was really great. Even pasta dishes were really good. The coffee (Seattle Best type) was fine, the desserts just so so.
-Fitness Facilities: 4 stars plus. Two large pools, 6 jacuzzis, a very good gym, large sauna and steam bath, rock climbing wall. The jogging track on one of the uppermost decks needed more manteinance. The outside decks liteally flooded when it rained.
-Shows & Entertainment: 3 stars. The only weak point of the cruise. In the theater most performances were frankly boring.
I have taken some photos of the Grandeur of the Seas and of the Sovereign of the Seas. I will try to post them next week.
