I recently completed a Bermuda Cruise on the Celebrity Line. I was shocked at what happened. I had a wonderful cruise with this ship last year and look forward to a return visit to Bermuda. Little did I know what was in store.

Firts, came Ernesto. We begged to cancel and switch to another week and offered to pay and additional charge but they refused. When we arrived, no one was there to help anyone on the ship. There was little staff and they whole ship was slippery. Many people feel. The staff provided no assistance to anyone and just looked on. The food was awful - no salmon every night as promised. They claimed it was delayed but it was being served in the alternative room. Meat was only available in medium rare. The waiters were rude. The cabin was dirty. I found cheerios from the last guest under the bed.

The cruise was very rocky the first few days and activities were cancelled but passengers were left alone to slip and trip while the crew was no where to be found.

Also, the lunch area was unsanitary and many servers did not where gloves.

If you value your health, I would not recommend this cruise or its line.

The waiters and the stateroom attendants were also rude. A first for me on any cruises.

Did I expect too much - A well staff cruise - meat cooked to order at least medium well not raw and assistance when needed.

I would not recommend this cruise line to anyone.

Terror on the high seas.

I would love to here other peoples comments.

Frankly, I find this and the motives behind it way more offensive than anyone selling a WTC plate.

Agreed. One bad experience and you condemn one of the best cruise lines in the industry? Sorry you had a tough time but take you lumps like tens-of-thousands of other passengers do during hurricane season. Get over it and move on.

Didn't Ernesto effect the Bermuda cruises that left this weekend? Furthermore I had clients that returned from the Zenith Saturday (and they were not effected by the hurricane) and had a very nice time and they thought the service was excellent. The only thing they though the ship was a bit worn looking. She is 14 years old so that is to be expected.

I have four thoughts:-
  1. Thank you for the laughs.
  2. You need to get out more.
  3. It's time for one of these.
  4. You need spelling lessons.

Actually it was Florence which affected this week's cruise. The ZENITH sailed Sept. 9th and cancelled Bermuda (which was hit by Florence on Monday), going instead to Freeport and Nassau. I have a group on board right now and although the seas are rough, they're having a great time. Everyone was given the option to cancel the cruise and credit the amount towards a future sailing, or else those who sailed are receiving $150/cabin shipboard credit.

We all know that every cruise line has its "bad days", and those bad days may be more likely to happen on ships like Zenith which are perhaps, IMO, not as well treated by their owners as may be the newer and more profitable ships.
And if Legal Eagle was onboard during a whole ship "bad day" and if he was unlucky enough to encounter only crew men who were having themselves personnal "bad days", I'm willing to believe his cruise was ruined, especially since he had great memories and expectation after his great experience one year ago. And in those cases, the weather don't always help.

Am I correct in assuming that someone with the forethought to purchase travel insurance would have been covered if they opted out of said cruise?

I'm not sure. After all, if the cruise did take place, and you only cancelled because you chose to, that could be argued as being your choice.

Legal Eagle, Celebrity is the best luxurious cruise line out there, 6 of 10 where in the top 10 in Conde Nast, that is really good. Zenith is their oldest ship but has some good reviews. I'm sorry that your trip was so bad, but it wouldn't be nice to judge Celebrity on one bad experience. And Celebrity gives the option to cancel in case there's a storm like Linerich said.

They are good - but I would not go that far to call them 'best (!) luxurious line' - even to call them luxurious is probably an exaggeration - 'premium' seems to be more adequate.

As with ANY cruise line (or ship) it is indeed possible to have bad luck - and it is 'details' which can spoil a vacation. But it is very inadequate to dubb it 'terror on the high sea'.

P.S.: I never heard that a cruise line claims to serve salmon every day - salmon is not as special as it used to be - serving salmon or offerring it at a buffet is actually a cheap trick to give the impression to be sophisticated - this is a very weired way to judge the quality of the food served aboard.....

Do I detect a Troll. The L.E. post is probably bogus.
Did you notice that no mention of taking this tale of terror to the customer relations desk on board

It only takes one day at sea to get to Bermuda-not a few. L.E. needs spell check or a dictionary.
Maybe it was that time of the month!!!!! (profile check)

hahah this post is rediculas. What did he want the crew to do get him a wheel chair and push him around where it is supposedly sllipary (sp)? I also dont see how rain can make wood decking slippary but ok. Also never heard of salamon every night and besides whats the big deal with salamon you can buy it anywhere. Also medium rare the only thing? i say bs they cant make you eat medium rare its cook to order.

I thought it was Celebrity that announced some time ago that they were only going to serve beef and eggs well-done (or something like that) for safety reasons. Didn't that happen?

OP is SHE - check her profile!

Whole thing sounds fishy to me. Why hasn't she come back and answered everyone else's post?

I can't figure out what she means by "When we arrived, no one was there to help anyone on the ship".

I agree with Jonathan - what did she want the crew to do - carry her on board or push her around in a wheel chair?
