Hello CTF mates,

One quiz...a difficult one, recently I found out this web-site that shows the SUNBORN INTERNATIONAL YACHT HOTEL CONCEPT project...take a look at:

Tell me, which type of ship can we consider them?

Cruise Ship? - they can travel between ports...

Cruise Yacht? - they have the design, however they have a passenger occupancy that exceeds the "commercial yachts standards"...

Floating Hotel? - they have the "skill" to be alonside at any port open as a regular floating hotel as long as business will be profitable...

So, let's read about your opinions...

Seems to me it would fall into teh same category as the Yachts of Seabourn. The capaicty and amenities appear to be in the same range.

If you see the web site carefully you shall see ,as an example that their Model S250 has got 250 cabins which means approximately 500 pax...

It beats clearly the Seabourn cruise yachts...and enters the cruise ship type...correct?

I'd surely hope they wouldnt paint on the name 'PRINCESS' so big on top of the vessel...it looks unbecoming...

Shipping Agent - yes I saw that - but judging by the smaller ships - they seem to be along the lines of Seabourn...as for the larger ones - perhaps somewhere in between a Silversea or Regent product...so depending upon the the ship you are looking at I would suggest the smaller being mega-yacht (al la Seabourn). The larger cruise ship as per the lines above.

Of course, it's not just a concept. There's a real live one at ExCeL in London.

In fact, it reminds me that I have a voucher for a two-night stay there that I have to use some time this year.

There aren't any engines, so purely a floating hotel.

Was it an actual ship once? Did it have engines originally? Hang on, the web site says 'custom built' so I suppose that's a 'no'.

Having stayed aboard the London Sunborn I think it is a real shame - the ship itself is lovely and the cabins very similar to Seabourn Suites. The atrium is grand with glass lifts. But the food and service are just dreadful....
