If I have to decide between the Costa Concordia and the Aurora it's the Aurora. To give a reason: Because she has been built by Meyer.

No, the reason is: because Aurora has style and Concordia dosen't!

O.K. - the P&O tackiness is a bit better than the Costa tackiness.

Looking at the perspective it could only be an airship.

Or Pam climbed the funnel of the third ship to get a better view.

Anyway tough decision.

I would have to go for Aurora, at the end of the cruise my eyes would not hird from seeing those screaming Farcus interiors, but then again if I was Concordia I would have a nice view of the Aurora.

I don't think there would be room for QM2 alongside as well

They are taken from Montjuic Castle. Providing the midday heat haze is not too bad one can get some interesting photos.

Aurora would be my number one choice. Built at an excellent yard, has an excellent design and layout, and also much more attractive looking than other cruise ships these days.

Cant wait to cruise on her again!

Great shots Pam.
For me it would have to be Aurora, and preferably when she is on a long voyage, following the sun,and exploring the world.

Why the COSTA CONCORDIA of course! Can you think of a more spectacular ship!!???

Just testing to see if anyone is actually paying attention.

Seriously, I can't think of too many ships that are lower on my list than CONCORDIA.

You girls and guys are really so predictable...
Always first for "bashing" a Destiny class ship and Farcus interiors! Not only one vote for her, that's pathetic...

For me, it would be COSTA CONCORDIA among the top position list of ships to select... as the last choice to cruise on (though, better than nothing).

SO, my choice is, by far, the splendidly elegant AURORA, OF COURSE!

Thanks Pam for sharing these nice photos.

Fantastic photos Pam!

Having been on Aurora 3 times (including the rather short maiden voyage), definately my 1st choice!

Be great if P&O had another ship built at Meyer's, but I imagine any future newbuilds will come from the Fincantieri stable.

Good Lord, Pam! How many zillion millimeter telephoto lens did you use for those closeups..and from the castle, to boot!

I know one can do some "Zooming" with the crop and enlarge commands on the desktop, but the quality begins to get a bit ragged if this is done with too much abandon! I know.

Great pix!

A big problem with the Destiny Class and her derivatives has been a lack of deck space. When the ship is full finding a spot is nearly impossible. Looking at Pam's excellent photos I can see this problem is only compounded on CONCORDIA. Gone is the "stadium style" deck forward of the center pool because this is now a solarium. Also, there used to be deck space all the way forward on top of the spa area. I see this is now glass enclosed (on the ceiling too). This leaves very little remaining space. A narrow walk around the two glass enclosed pools and that is about it. Just another reason not to sail on this ship, not that I needed another reason!

The Good Lord didn't understand me earlier Cambodge, I did ask him Malcolm is way off too, I'm not caryring that sort of stuff around all day!! ... I purely have a bog standard digital camera with a 12x optical zoom. No digital zoom in use, either via the camera or the PC.. it does as you say reduce the quality terribly.

I would sail either if the opportunity arose, I know I would like Aurora, but still curious over those awful interior photos of Costa Concordia. That cannot really be that bad... or can they? Ernie's comments re the lack of open deck space are also off putting..

There seems to be a lot of deck above the snub of a bow, but they don't lead anywhere much so I suspect little used or not at all when underway. Just how does she shrug the water off if a huge wave breaks over the bow, she looks more like a water catcher.

I also put an album up of her alongside from a harbour trip; she doesn't look any better from down there:-

Aurora & Millennium with Costa Concordia

Costa Concordia Turning in the Basin

C Concordia from a harbour trip
&
A few more from above at Montjuic Castle, close-up of the bow

I also see that tixo2402 has 2 nice galleries of Costa Concordia departing Lisbon in July.
Costa Concordia with Legend of the Seas and
on her own which includes a great shot of her under April 25th Bridge.

FANTASTIC PICS pam! Fantastic.
Externally, I've always found the DESTINY class to be averagely correct, though not a beauty, not bad at all. (From your camera, it's even better ... )

If I remember well, the last time I've photographied a Costa ship from the Montjuic, it was the DAPHNE or DANAE in May 1987.

Great pictures Pam. No question possible Aurora. She is the most attractive of the vessels on the pictures (exterior and interior)

Glad you like them 'cos I thoroughly enjoyed taking them, despite sitting up at the castle for 3 hours! Making sure I was there in case CC was early, only for her to arrive an hour late but worth it. There is an Aurora album too, from the harbour trip here, and yet another of Millennium somewhere.

Fantastic pictures, but this ship is not a beauty in my "world of ships"
She is an "overbuild shortbow".
But I enjoyed the pictures very much.

Oh, I didn´t say that it´s the CC I mean.

Sincerely René.
