Latest News...Royal Caribbean Group reported second-quarter 2026 financial results that exceeded expectations and led the company to raise its full-year earnings guidance. Nice to see UK-based ships doing their bit to support England in the World Cup football.

Here are a couple of pictures of P&O's Aurora, up in the Arctic Circle near Spitzbergen...

Indeed frightening - giving the fact that this is in Spitzbergen - luckily there are still some places where you can escape- I can recommend Tennessee.

Haha, well I like it. I once saw Westerdam leaving the port of Rotterdam and she had a flag of the Rotterdam Footbal club Feyenoord on one of the upper decks.

Around my neighbourhood I have seen cars driving around with the flags of Brasil, Portugal and England flying from their radio antennas. I am happy to report that my neighbours are aware that St. George's flag, rather than the Union flag, is the flag of England.

its true, you cannot escape it...it is all over the world in every nok and crannie...i've practially seen nfluence everywhere from the flags on the cars and busses here in Barbados to even yesterday during the 4th and final Test match between the West Indies and India at the Sabina Park Cricket ground in Jamaica where they were broadcasting live bursts of Argentina and Germany on the Giant screen...Off course Umpire Rudy Koertzen demanded that it be turned back to broadcasting cricket and not football!LOL

It looks like all the Indian batsmen except Rahul Dravid and Harbhajan Singh were anxious to get back to the pavilion to watch the football. As for the umps, they were probably annoyed that RSA didn't qualify. They'll change their tune in 2010.

Well i guess that didnt last long Brian because at the end of day 1 India were bowled out for 200 but at that time football was finished all around...If South Africa had qualified they would be back out of the cup just as fast as they entered! LOL

Yes, but thank goodness we have "Footballer's Wives" on BBC America. I love the show and just might start taking interest in the sport.

England is now out of the cup, but at least all us Brits we can all get on with our lives again.

Us Brits only show our patriotism for a few weeks, so everyone will be taking down their flags (inc. silly plastic flags on cars) until the next world cup. There will be room to move in the pubs once again. The vast marketing machine that puts the world cup logo’s on everything from Corn Flakes to T-Shirts will be winding down.

Spitzbergen will be unspoilt once again.

England deserved to win. They resisted during a full hour where as they were in numeric inferiority being as dangerous as their opponents.
It's a shame, as it would have been fun to have an England/ France semi-final.

As we are talking about football, let me ask two little questions :

-How do you call the game in itself ?
I know that in german speaking countries it's Fussball, in Italy calcio... But I wonder, in English seaking countries, is that soccer or football ?

- Another question which will make my post related to cruising: Had some cruise lines proposed as shore excursions a world cup match when they called at ports such as Cuxhaven, Bremerhaven, Hambourg or Warnemünde, which are in coach range with world cup stadiums ?

I started this thread by posting a picture of the Englad flag draped across Aurora.

Aurora ... the ship upon which the champagne bottle didn't break. Whose service with P&O can hardly be described as "lucky".

England lost.

The Dutch where kicked out the competition and everthing turned to normal happy that the color orange is now almost dissapeared frome street life. Till april 30 next year.
I don't like footbal (maybe to wach some players

)

The best part is what is going in the crew areas . In 1998 i was working on board a casino cruise boat in Red Sea with 40% crew english (casino staff) and 40% romanian (mostly deck and engine) .
The ship owner decided to cancel a 3 hour cruise in order to have the crew seeing the match .Romania Win that game .
