Hi all,

I thought the new CROWN PRINCESS was supposed to be delivered last month, but I didnŽt read anything about it. Will she now be delivered this month?

Brgds.

The naming ceremony for Crown Princess, with godmother Martha Stewart, will be on Wednesday, June 14. American Idol winner Katherine McPhee will sing the National Anthem. The ship is currently on a two-day non-revenue cruise to nowhere.

And Kenneth Lay will be in the galley, cooking the books.

Oh people get over Martha, especially my friends from across the pond. The Queen and her family aren't squeaky clean either. She got caught , let's be real insider trading is happening all the time.

Don't even compare to what Lay did. Martha hurt herself, Lay hurt thousands. I had a lot of friend who worked for Enron, what Martha did doesn't even come close.

I will admit it was a strange choice, but she is rebuilding her reputation and millions still love her. Go figure?

Actually, insider trading also hurts people. It's less direct, and infinitely more insidious. But it takes money out of the pockets of honest people like you and me, just the same.

And that's why it doesn't help at all to brush what she did under the carpet? So what if other serious criminals don't get caught. She's a serious criminal who did get caught.

And what is more important, she is not a reformed character who could now hold her head up high. Has she come clean? Has she confessed and promised to make a fresh start? Or is she just hoping that people will eventually forget or have their attention distracted by other things.

I'd be happy for her to be a ship's godmother if she were truly reformed. Otherwise, a serious criminal doesn't deserve that honour, IMHO.

Tell that to the poor sap who bought the stock she dumped and lost $250k. She is a crook same as Ken Lay. The amount is not an issue IMO.

I saw the Crown Princess on Sunday when I returned on Norwegian Spirit. From a distance it looks like Diamond/Sapphire without the pods. When I get my pics I will try to post one. Not too sure how to do it. Sat. night was pretty choppy. 8-10 ft swells. I wonder how the Zenith made out going to Bermuda?

It's amazing with as much hype that was given to FREEDOM, you barely hear a thing about CROWN PRINCESS. I think the Princess PR machine has lost a little steam. Even though the ship may not be that unique or special, it's the job of the PR department to make it seem that way.

Is that Sanctuary are meant to be a place to relax and be peaceful? If I remember correctly, on Star I was playing basket ball and that semi-circle area can get very noisy and very unpeaceful from high winds...the canvas covers flap and make loud noises...hardly the area to be peaceful!

And there isnt much sun light either there...

Yes, she began her sea trials in April (Cruise News, April 10) and was handed over in the last week in May.

Hi All,
Just came back from an overnighter on CROWN Princess,
very nice ship, different from FREEDOM OTS, but still very nice. The Brooklyn NY terminal is a little hard to get too but the shore side folks did a great job, terminal is nice.
Ship is pretty much the same as Caribbean Princess, a few changes. Some of the speciality restaurants have moved and are very nice. Food was ok not great, things this am were a bit slow for the inagural.
More later.

Just disembarked QM2 in Southampton, as we sailed from NYC, we met with the Corwn under the Verezano Bridge and did some fun horn salutes back and forth. it was fun, but to be honest, she looked just like every other Princess ship. She was no match for the QM2

Whats all this business about Martha Stewart.

I have never heard of her, anything she has done, what she does for a living, how old she is, and where she comes from?????

Living in Australia we are somewhat unfamiliar with foreign celebrities unless they are really famous.

Sutho, after the furore you caused on the thread about towels and water de-salination, you ought to be wary about displaying the depths of your ignorance of current affairs . . .

Well hey hang on a minute, give Sutho a break! Its not like everyone in Australia reads all those American newspapers (as much as the Americans would like to think they arent Australia's centre of attention). And I'm not sure how Martha Stewert is a current affair...wasnt it 2002 when she was involved in a scandal? greybeard...since you are such full of wisdom would you care to enlighten Sutho and myself, and any other Aussie's out there who are not up to speed with Mrs. Stewart? They dont even show any of her apparantly pathetic shows here.

OK, for the benefit of Sutho and Pungpui, here's an extract from Martha Stewart's entry in Wikipedia.

Beginning in 2002, Stewart's career was shaken by a scandal involving the sale of her shares in pharmaceutical company ImClone, days before its application for a new drug was denied. She was eventually convicted of lying to investigators, and is accused in a civil case of insider trading. Stewart was sentenced to prison in 2004. She was released on March 4, 2005.

The full article can be read here:

Wikipedia

And, Pungpui, you will note that I am a Brit (or what the Aussies would refer to as a Pom), not an American. As I enjoy travel, I tend to pay attention to news from around the world. Oh, and I once brought a Martha Stewart cookbook back from a holiday in the US.
