Great picuture greybeard!

The interiors are somewhat improved over previous Princess ships, but still very "Princess Pastel" in my opinion.

Thanks again!

Thanks so much!! Your photos are the first I've seen anywhere of CROWN PRINCESS. She looks pretty nice. Very much a Princess ship but maybe a little more interesting looking.

Great pics.. thanks. Does one have to Croon in the Champagne bar.. eek? Rather an odd name, I think.
Like the pool/spa areas.

This area, which Princess are branding The Sanctuary, is forward on the Sports Deck, one deck up from the Spa pool on Sun Deck.

You can see it here . . .

Thanks so much for the pictures. She looks great, an updated version of the Grand sisters. I hope Princess can take time to update the Sun and Grands class ships with some of these changes to the Plaza areas. Glad to see that Carnival is letting Princess be Princess!

Can't wait to book her for next year!

I still don't like the balcony design whereby you have minimal privacy if you're on a lower deck... have no idea what possessed them to create that... a balcony should be a space where you can relax with your own piece of deck with no disturbances if you wish. Apart from that, I love the atrium and other public spaces, they look very nice and prestigious.

A motivation - beside that it might have been convenient to build - is that one gets more light into the cabin and an unobstructed balcony with 'access' to open sky. I consider the 'lack of light' the major diadvantage of most balcony cabins - which also do not offer too much privacy. (certainly a bit more)

The Sky Suites on Galaxy's upper Sky Deck were pretty much 'open to the sky' (hence the name?) and to a degree, had the same lack of privacy issues. I was in Suite 1203, with a wonderful verandah that was 13 feet x 13 feet square, but I constantly had folks on the small aft top observation deck looking down at my patio.

Having a more open balcony is often - but not always - on the cost of privacy.

Personally I would accept less privacy in exchange for a more open balcony for a lower grade cabin (people have to choose when they book - or get a better price) - but not for a higher grade cabin or suite - there it should be done properly - which is possible.

I love cabins with a direct door to the open deck - I had this only once (and hopefully will have it again soon on another ship) - and I have only been on two ships with such cabins - but I think it could be attractive to 'squeeze' in some o cabins like that on e.g. a promenade deck.
This is certainy only a small niche - but it is very handy to be on deck quickly - and promenade deck cabins are usually a bit less attractive and could be 'pimped' this way.

You all bring up very interesting points. I guess I see the cabin as your "home" away from home, so to me, privacy is a huge issue, if I pay for a balcony, I expect to be able to use it as if it were my own space without worrying about others peering in. A balcony on the Grand Class would pretty much be useless to me if it were one of the 'open' ones. But anyway I'm complaining but in reality I'll probably never go on any of the Grands anyway =P

I think the important aspect is that one does not have to book such a cabin. I think it is reasonable to have some different cabin categories - first, it might still be better to have such a balcony than no balcony (putting outside cabins with windows there would not make a lot of sense) and there might even be a niche for such balconies. (if then it is probably very small)

Those exposed balconies below are not a very good idea. You could easily drop dangerous items (such as burning cigarettes) or even vomit on to them. So the idea of extra light in lieu of privacy and protection from certain elements is really not a good one in my opinion.

I can remember cases where passengers I had booked into other 'regular' balcony cabins were upgraded just prior to sailing (or found out at the pier) to such 'exposed' balconies and where very unhappy with this lack of privacy.

This is of course anoying - something similar nearly happened to me too - a higher category is not always better.

The lack or privacy on the Vistas stern cabin balconies is just the same which we have discussed before; items being thrown over etc... Everyone wants to look over the stern at some point and once you do, one cannot miss looking at the balconies and whoever maybe on them. I would never have one of these cabins.

I also noted from some of the Freedom of the Seas photos about, that the balcony dividers only appear to be opaque plastic, enabling one to see those next door moving about. That would be most off putting if one wanted a private balcony. Perhaps someone who has been aboard can confirm this, or whether they are indeed 'solid'.

Look at this - here you see the good and the bad at once - an open balcony which can not be viewed by anoyone (the forward facing section) - but you also see a the transparent dividers to the other balconies made of frosted glass (on the starboard section) - they give you more light but less privacy. (you have to move around a bit to see it - one divider is actually close to the camera)
