The 1979 built Princess Rowena (ex-Ciudad De Badajoz) is now sailing on overnight casino cruises ex Hong Kong. The below photo is of their advertising banner at the pick up point for the tender to the ship on the Kowloon side.

The banner advertises free cabin and free food. Come enjoy a good time. Super Big jackpot daily.

Mike

Lovely photos Mike.. what if one doesn't gamble? do you still get a free cabin & food or if you don't lose enough do you get a bill the next morning!!

I think either GDX or youself once posted that not everyone can sail... by invite or membership? only big rollers? but what if you are a tourist visiting wanting a flutter?

Pam

Thanks for the compliment Wayne. Glad you liked the photos. Uh, no big win! Haven't been aboard this ship yet

Pam, you raise a very good question. As I have not sailed with Princess Rowena as yet, I do not know how their free tickets and food works. I would imagine that there is some "catch" to all this free stuff . I do inted to try the ship later.

Regarding your statement about membership, that was in reference to Asia Star, where you must be a member first in order to sail.
Good point also about if someone just wants to take an overnight sea voyage and not do the casino routine. I am also interested to know this and will do my best to find out.

Mike

It is quite an interesting subniche in the cruising world. The pictures are quite nice.

The fact that the poster is only in Chinese (seemingly) will prevent many passing non-chinese tourists to the ship.

BTW,Mike, I thought you had written, a long time ago on this topic, that the entrance to this gambling ships is guarded by strong men, who can decide not to let people on board ?

I've heard that somebody who boarded Walrus freely but didn't get into the casino was beaten up when he got off the ship.

Andy, yes, I have heard this and it does not make trying these ships comfortable at all. Great care must be taken when choosing your ship.

Johan there are indeed men at the tender embarkation points where tickets are sold also, who can refuse the sale of tickets to anyone whom they deem not fitting.
