Dear Friends

This topic is different from the NEVER BUILTS projects, because my intention is to focus on cruise ships that already exist but never cruised with certain company colors as foreseen...however with cruise broschures or previews images already made.

I will name a few such as:-

- MS Gripsholm - ( Regent Sea) by Transocean Tours
-MS Society Adventurer-( Hanseatic) Discoverer Rederei/Society expeditions
- MS Joywave - ( Odysseus ) - Legend Cruises
- MS La Palma - Louis Cruise Lines
- MS Norwegian Leo ( Superstar Leo) - NCL
- MS OCEANIC VOYAGER - ( Holiday Dream) - Orient Lines / NCL
- MS FAIRSKY (2) - (EX-Principe Perfeito) -Sitmar

...

I look forward for your comments...

Best regards

The year 2000 brochure for the Big Red Boat has a photo of the SS ROTTERDAM with a red hull--she was supposed to be the BIG RED BOAT IV.

How about:

NORWEGIAN SKY (now PRIDE OF ALOHA) originally intended to become COSTA OLYMPIA (sister to COSTA VICTORIA) and not completed by Bremer Vulkan because of the yard's bankruptcy.

This is diffent - this vessels just changed owners - but not while she was built or refitted. (she is a bit special as she expierienced not only extensive refits but a severe fire and even sank)

Cunard Ambassador/Adventurer were originally ordered by Overseas National Airways which Cunard had a 50% share. During construction the ships were transferred to Cunard.

Crown Pricess (now AidaBlu) and Regal Princess were both ordered by Sitmar but by delivery Sitmar had been taken over by P&O Princess.

I think HAL's Veendam [ex Argentina] was to be
named BRASIL, but never sure if it actually did
happen. I don't know what Volendam [ex Brasil]
was doing at the time or what her name would
have been or changed to........it may have been
during the time Volendam was laid up due to
enormous increases in oil prices.

According to Kludas, both Volendam and Veendam were laid up in 1974. In mid-December 1974 Veendam was chartered for a few months to Brazilian concerns. She was renamed Brasil and cruised out of Rio. She was returned to HAL in April 1975 when the charter expired, renamed Veendam and was used in the Caribbean. In 1976 she was transferred to Monarch Cruises (which HAL had just acquired) and renamed Monarch Star. Volendam had been chartered to Monarch Cruises in 1975 and renamed Monarch Sun.

Fedor Dostojewski, Maxim Gorki, Danae and Daphne were supposed to form a new premium cruise line. I remember only one ship - Danae or Daphne - has been painted with the new livery.

Star Princess. Ordered as Sitmar Fairmajesty, taken over towards the end of the building when P&O bought Sitmar.
The ship ernst was mentioning began life as Sally Albatros - a Viking Line Ferry. She became a cruise ship and whilst undergoing a refit burned down. She was rebuilt from engine room up. Various service changes eventually and she is currently Silja Opera. For a full history check out Fakta on Silja Opera
It depends who is asked as to whether they consider these 2 the same ship. Some say that the current Opera merely used unburned parts from Sally Albatros. Others say she used enough that she was a rebuild.

Also add the REGAL PRINCESS which was supposed to enter service with AROSA a year after the CROWN PRINCESS was transferred to AROSA.

Yes, it was "Prestige Cruises".

WALRUS is sitting in the Singapore Strait doing nothing, except waiting for a buyer.
