I just saw a report on another board that the Spleandour of the Seas has just been sold to Iberojet. She will be joining their fleet in 2007, based in Cancun and the Med. From what I hear she is to be renamed the Grand Splendour. I am a bit surprised RCI is willing to part with so new a ship, and wonder if they might not be buying into Iberojet Cruises, after all don't they co-own Island Cruises?

Splendour Of The Seas to Iberojet?!?!?!

Why that? The ship still is very profitable in Caribean or Mediterranean (i think) and she is almost brand new (less than 10 years). They could have sold the Sovereign Class that are ships from the 80's. How these spanish operators are getting so much money to buy all these ships recently (Voyager, Mistral, Pacific Sky and R Seven)?

i dunno about that i havent heard nor ready anything bout this.........who knows, it could be a rumor going around....and i dont think that RCI would b willing to sell that class of ship (splendour and legend) and they are so relatively new....and if RCI is doing all their revitalization programes with the sovereign class why sell the ships that are years newer... i am not buying into that yet..

Until I see official announcements, I am not buying into it.

LOL... well you learn something new.. I had no idea Spain had an April Fool's Day equivalent... good one anyway, as Splendour of the Seas does already spend a fair amount of time sailing ex Barcelona and is not an entirely unbelievable 'joke'.

As my compatriates has just pointed, we celebrate Aprils Fools day in December. Traditionally lots of tricks everywhere. On the newspapers, forums, and so on. So....watch out for next year. Probably Pullmantur will eventually purchase the Freadom of the Seas.
