Below is a link to Shipspotting with pictures of the ISLAND STAR (ex. HORIZON) in her new Island Cruises' livery.

ISLAND STAR

She looks very bulky and "cheap" without the dark colors stripes and the new apartment block aft. Pity they got rid of the observation deck above the bridge-the vast windows are now replaced with walls and small picture windows (another "block"). I find it funny the "X" is still on the funnel.

Hello,

i prefer her in black hull too. She seems too square. I really did not understand how they say that spended millions of dollars in her refit and the Celebrity's X is still there...!

I must admit she looks rather odd all in white, but it'll probably grow on one. I am surprised to see the X still there quite prominent. A bonus for Island Cruises but I really wonder why Celebrity wish or even allow the connection to be so obvious. Is the X that difficult to remove? It's almost as if the move may not be so permanent as we think.

Here's a photoshopped image from a while back of what she was going to look like.

The reality is a bit different. It looks like they left some black on the mast and the funnel. I think the all white look is better.

Regardless of her hull/superstructure colour combination, her boxiness and her stubby-looking bow makes her look like a ferry to me...but I guess she could be far worse looking.

Of course they took the best lounge on the ship (the forward observation bar) and turned it into cabins. I'll pass on this one.

They have also expanded to the front (to almost over the bridge) what was the former America's Cub Club Bar and the new cabins there now look worse and destroy the line.
Her back looks awful but the ducktail was necessary to make her more stable again due to the new block of cabins.
The blue of the mast and funnel does not fit to the rest. The entire white hull looks awful too. She's not the timeless vessel from before anymore.
The funnel-construction did not permit to remove the X but to only weld some tubes and the new logo over it.
The millions were almost all spend into the interior of the ship where she got new furniture and carpets.
Inside she should look pretty nice.
It's a pity that such a nice ship has been ruined externally so much.
Celebrity: Take an example of Costa which does still run your main competitor ships of the 90ies, COSTA CLASSICA and COSTA ROMANTICA and take HORIZON back to operate together with the ZENITH. There is still a market for those two ladies ! The Europeans love them !

Sad to see her look like this. I loved this ship a lot. I sailed on it twice to Bermuda and I will remember those good old days! However I hope she has a good new life.

Hi Folks,
It looks to me like they have added some balconies
on two decks, does anyone else see these too??

Looks bad they didn't do anything to make her look better, glad I sailed on her a few times as Horizon.

Here are two very interesting photos. First, an upclose look at the funnel with the X. Oddly, at the top they've tried to paint the while lines over the X to make it less obvious... but elsewhere they didn't do this. It just looks like a mess.

Also, there is a shot of the stern where it appears a new section has been added...much like the modifications made to Jubilee/Pacific Sun. You can see the large block added below the name--it completely destroys the unique lines of the ship's original stern.
