Mary has been roaming again, this time nearer to home. She came across 2 lovely vessels, now earmarked for a later trip, and wonders if you can name them:-

This Steamer also appears in a postcard of a painting along with another famous steamer, can you name her too?

The ship in the first picture could be a paddle steamer on the Loch Lomond - is the name 'Maid of the Loch'?

I have been there some years ago (I am not an expert for this kind of vessels) and remembered the ship as well as the landscape - tough it was a bit more the ship.

Too easy!

The Maid should be got out of the water next year as grant aid has been obtained to repair the old winding house and slip.

Has anyone been to Stronachlachar since the sailings went independent?

Yes we were at Stronaclacher last week, they seemed to be digging around the waiting room area, like they were laying drains or cables. The sailings are not daily like all the new signage in and around the Trossachs at this time of year but I believe that the ship is still sailing at the weekends.

Is the second one the little ship that cruises around Loch Katrine in (as scottylass said) the Trossachs? I can't remember her name, but I was on her a few years ago and had a really pleasant day.

That's the one Tom, she calls in at Stronachlachar at the other end of the Loch, so who is going to come up with a name for this little SS, can't be that hard now to find out.

Here an interresting padle steamer De Majesteit (the Majesty) Home port Rotterdam. She was a passenger rivervessel. Now ussed as a party vessel.

De Majesteit.

The second picture is certainly Sir Walter Scott and the second ship in the third picture is I think the Rob Roy which ceased sailing in the early 1900s.
