Well, I can put an end to all the speculation. Currently onboard QM2 and I can assure everyone the Winter Garden is still here (and still lightly used) and the Champagne Bar is still extant. The visible changes seems to be confined to new carpeting in some areas.

Those who chose this crossing for storm watching are sadly disappointed. The ocean is smooth as a duckpond and the outside temp is a balmy 15 C. I'm off to the outdoor pool, a full report later!

I must be one of the few that LOVED the Winter Garden and Champagne Bar....to me they provided a much needed 'quiet area' where I could be left alone. I enjoyed the solitude they provided.

I am glad they still exist.

I also love the Champagne Bar. Along with the Chart Room they are two of the most elegant rooms on the ship.

The Winter Garden looks very fake and contrived to me, and would be more suited on a Disney ship in it's current form.

From another board:

"most cosmetic changes are to Deck 7. The sliding doors are gone, replanced by standard steel and wood outside and glass inside. The Winter Garden remains--sigh--but some overflow seating for King's Court occupies a corner. Teh Court itself has better signs and more seatng; the center section ( with the skylight to the lobby) has been
reconstructed and seats installed. Sadly, the traffic flow problem continues--too many people, most tottering along with waden trays, moving in too many directions. The grill rooms have also been
redecorated. Some fittings now adorn the Grand Lobby.

I gather the most significant changes involve the galley and propulsion. The pods still bounce a little, esp. if you're right above them.

Oh no! I wonder if these are the same doors as the one the PACIFIC SKY received?

Some fittings now adorn the Grand Lobby.

I wonder what that means?

The winter Garden is rather fake like you said...wen i went aboard on her inaugural sail to Barbados, the activities manager took us around for a thorough tour of the vessel (public roooms)..When we Got to the Winter Garden i realised the support Columns...they looked real but when u knock on them they are as hollow as a rotten tree. as for the folilage and "shurbery".....most of those are fake too........on the Good side of things the relief mural on the wall is superb..and the ceiling art is very nice!!!

Hmm, I don't recall seeing any skylights above the atrium. Didn't see anyone use the Winter Garden as Kings Court overflow even though there were 2,300 onboard. I've still got that feeling that I'm still at sea!
