In Tuesdays edition of our local newspaper, the Gloucester County Times, there was a story of a man from Woodbury Hts. NJ who became deathly sick on Oct 16 in Venice on a Carnival ship. John Cusack, 45 is suffering from an acute esophageal infection after dining that night. The story can be found at www.nj.com. Pick the Gloucester Co. Times and you can find the Article. He lives only minutes from my house. Anyone else hear of this?

Weird, I auctually read on another message board that someone from an earlier sailing of the Liberty came down with menigitus (spelling) and died... Anyone think they might be related?

Not related, no:-

Appears they didn't have insurance either....! Why?

I was just about to post the same comments as Pam.....

Don't US cruisers have to state that they have insurance when they book/before they embark? Or would simple 'trip cancellation' insurance be enough?

Insurance cover is entirely optional in the US, Tom. Go on that same cruise from here and it is a requirement of Carnival. Quite crazy. Having to 'fundraise' for the costs is out of order imo; if they can afford the cruise, they can afford the insurance, or not go.
