Forgot to post this earlier and it's been keeping me awake. LOL!

I was watching an ep on BBC1 yesterday called Man Overboard from 1999 or something. Anyway there were 2 ships featured which were meant to be the same one. I think the main stuff was filmed on the Queen Mary at Long Beach because we got a glimpse of a red funnel with black stripe around it. However, the insert of a completely different one at sea is puzzling me. It was small, white funnel and it looked like it had the sea witch on. The only shots weren't very good (the first was at night!). Does anyone know what it was? I have a feeling it was archive footage of the previous Sea Princess (which would have been P&O's Victoria at the time the ep was filmed).

It was probably the Sun Princess, 1972 (Spirit of London; Sun Princess; Starship Majestic; Southern Cross; Flamenco).

Since she was really the first "Love Boat" (in the first 2 TV movies before the series), I assumed the studio/producers took truckloads of footage and it just keeps showing up - over, and over, and over again!

Strangely enough, Hollywood often pairs location footage of the Queen Mary with the Sun Princess and I guess we're not suppose to notice (The Night Stalker; Columbo; numerous TV and "B" grade movies).

In a night shot, with poor quality, the Sun Princess and Sea Princess look quite a lot alike.

Cheers!

Sun Princess has been visible (e.g. the gangway) in the 'Love Boat' series - but 'the' Love Boat was the Pacifc Princess.

Actualy it was Pasific Princess sister Island Princess who was ussed as the Love Boat. But soon was chansed fore the Pacific Princess.

Thanks Mariposa. I never knew they did that. looks like producers all over the worls think viewers are stupid. The funnel of the ship wasn't lit up in the night shot and the other footage was a very bad angle. It looked like the sea witch was too long for the funnel (if you know what I mean).
