Hello to everyone !

I would share with you some pics of cruise ships taken during my last cruise in the Caribbean onboard Carnival Valor.

The quality is so so for me: I'm not a professional photographer and I'm still using a traditional camera, not a digital type.

Here are the photos: enjoy them !

Carnival Valor at Cozumel

The other pics show Carnival Conquest, Rhapsody of the Seas and Holiday Dream at anchor at Grand Cayman.

Frankly I think that it was more interesting to take photos of cruise ships in the Caribbean some years ago.

With so many ships in the same class (Destiny, Millenium, Spirit, Vista, Brilliance, Voyager, etc.) you have always to read the name of the ship !

Nothing wrong with shooting film. It is still better. Nice photos Paolo. Thanks for posting them.

By the way, the one of CARNIVAL VALOR at dusk is the best one for me.

******

Cheers

Lovely photos, I too like the one at dusk, Holiday Dream too.. well all of them. You remember to read the name Paolo... before spending hours trying to determine the ship, or after?

Nice pictures - I would not complain that one has to read the name - we might see the day when ships won`t have different names anymore but just the name of the "brand". (actually we already had/have something like that)

Wonderful photos, Italian Cruiser. I too really like the one of Carnival Valor at dusk. Just beautiful all lit up. I too still use film. At least it's not as complicated with all those buttons as digital cameras. I do agree about them all being the same. I had the same trouble with cars during the 80s when the common brands had similar designs. Oh for the heyday of shipping when they looked different.

Yes, great images!

Here's my picture of Valor taken at the end of August as she returns to Miami at sun rise.

Lovely photo, Malcolm. Hmm, an Oosterdam/Arcadia behind or at least similar.

Italian Cruiser: Nice pictures, thanks for posting.

As a cruiser I've never been ashore in San Juan or St. Thomas when a ship is departing at night with all lights ablaze - seems to me either departure would make a beautiful photo - anyone got any pics?

Thank you to all of you for the nice comments.

I would have had the opportunity to take photos of other cruise ships at dusk, but this wasn't possible.

In Grand Cayman Carnival Valor departed in the afternoon, while at Cozumel she was the only cruise ship in port. Both Carnival Conquest and Rhapsody of the Seas, in port during the same day, had departed earlier.

In December I will be in the Caribbean again for the transatlantic crossing of Costa Atlantica. I really hope to have the opportunity to take photos of more cruise ships, time in port permitting also at dusk.

For Pam: Unlike Malcolm I have remembered to read the name of each cruise ship... while approaching Grand Cayman I have tried to imagine which one of RCCL Vision class ship was in port... Legend and Splendour of the Seas were excluded: in August both were in Europe and even if they are listed as Vision ships... I don't know the reason for this..., they're smaller and have a different layout... but still there were four other cruise ships to choose. So I had to use the zoom of the camera to see the name of the ships. For Carnival Conquest it was easy... the name above the lifeboats is so large...

For Malcolm: having seen your photo of Valor in your previous topic I can say that it's very nice. Probably I was onboard Valor... as my cruise ended in Miami on August 28.

No, my cruise on Explorer finished one week earlier on 21st August.

We had just returned back at Miami cruise terminal in the early hours of the morning when Valor passes us heading for her berth. There was total silence apart from a hum of her engines (or generators) I suppose.

She looked magical!
