The NCL website shows hull art on Norwegian Spirit when you go into her area in the "fleet"... but the picture is small... anyone got a better pic of her with this art - or is it yet to be added?

Will all the ships get the art?

Hey Chris,
The Norwegian Spirit has not had the hull art painted on to it. Here, however, is a picture...

Norwegian Majesty, Dream, Wind, and Crown will not have hull-art because they are due to leave the fleet and go to Star Cruises in the coming years.

Its also widely known that the N. Spirit will be undergoing an extensive refurbishment to bring her more squarely into the NCL fleet. Does anyone have exact details of what will be done. I always thought she was a prime candidate for stretching, which would essentially could make her a near sister to Star/Dawn

In 1968, the travel agency Fugazy charted the INDEPENDENCE as a one-class "funship" for a new style of "hip" cruising. They painted her sides in a sunburst of yellow, orange, red & purple, along with Jean Harlow's eyes. The ship resembled the World War I dazzle-paint on the troopships! This operation only lasted a few months. Following is a black & white photo--I cannot find my color photos of her in this guise:

Does Norwegian Spirit resemble N Spirit on NCL's website as much as Norwegian Jewel does N Jewel?

Thanx everyone

So all of the smaller ships will leave the fleet for Star? Is this common knowledge or just guessing?

Well, call it logic. With the entry of P&O Australia and Costa Crociere into Asia, Star may have no choice but to deploying some of NCL’s older smaller (mid-size) vessels here sooner than later. India is also a growing market, and if Star is serious about it (which I know they are) they will consolidate before others come in. Hopefully NCL’s newbuilds will be on time to cover any losses to Star.

Hi,
N.SPIRIT left Vancouver Saturday 24th, after her last debark off the Alaska Season, and on her way to a 30 day drydock,...yes, 3 0 days...quite a massively long drydock for a ship not at all that old yet.
You can rest assured whatever hull artwork was planned will be applied.
She'll be back in Vancouver 24th Oct, and do a special long repositionning cruise to NewYork, sailing away 25th...I'll let you know how she looks like then.
She has no hull artwork of any type at the present time.
Cheers

Anyone have details of what exactly will be taking place in the drydock... I have a feeling that her asian inspired interiors will be replaced with a more modern interpretation of NCL today's designs... Maybe something similiar to Norweign Jewel.

I wonder how NCL maintain those paint jobs? They can't just get a roller out and a white tin of paint, can they?

Why not - but I think it is not necessary to repaint it that frequently as it seems as if the the hull art avoids the really sensitive parts of the hull.

Looking at this valkyrie above I prefer 'Mr Fish' from Royal Iris.

Me too! I hope nothing drastic as changed. I quite liked her Asian decor...

I don't really like the hull art though...

The hull art looks good. Although somehow it makes me think of what a Virgin Cruise Line's hull art might look like. If you've seen what Virgin Atlantic has painted on some of their planes you can begin to imagine what their ships might look like.

Hi,

The comparison with Virgin Atlantic is spot-on...
Since the rumoured joint venture R.Branson is pursueing appears to be with R.C.L., that would be quite a departure.
Another poster inquired about what else was''refitted''.....The whole saga of NCL Spirit's scheduled 30 days drydock which became a 18 day drydock in another locale is really pathetic...
**Other than the hull artwork added, the ship was not even repainted; saw her '' close up and personnal''yesterday in Vancouver, looks pretty sloppy still; seems the teak floors were redone; no sign of exterior modifications at all; according to guests, interior of staterooms shows no sign of '' new''stuff, although all staterooms were supposedly '' aired out''; carpeting redone on a couple of decks;....of course, the originally planned '' up-stretching'' of deck #13 with 22 new staterooms never occured ( imbroiled in labour and other issues).
I'm sure NCL will be glad when the fallout from that episode is all accounted for; these two or three last minutes trips out of SanFransisco cannot possibly be $$$ makers, and the deadhead move, twice, between Vancouver and SanFransisco is horribly expensive.
To top it all up, they had to '' refund ++ 100% new cruise'' monies to a fair amount of people as the sailing was already sold out for months based on the '' new '' model.....which had to be scrubbed last moment...

All in all, even witth a '' fesh '' new hull artwork, she did not look at all like a ship out of '' upgrade drydock''.

Intriguing...
Cheers

Indeed! I received my NCL "Roundtrip from New York" brochure and I did notice theres 22 new staterooms added there. The brochure also shows a reconfigured "Sunset Boulevard" and Business Center on Deck 8 forward. The brochure shows the Business Center being divided into a new Gift Shop, photo gallery/photo shop, two small meeting rooms, and one board room. One last change I see is a new Shore Excursion Desk built on Deck 7 midship on the starboard (right?) side.

Interesting to know how many of these plans actually took place.
