Hello All,
I hadn't looked at this web-site for a while, so I decided to visit again prior to my next (only my second) cruise. I am booked to board the Splendour Of The Seas next month for a week-long cruise round the Med, departing from Barcelona on a round-trip. Has anyone on the forum recently sailed aboard her and are there any hints or tips that would enhance mine and my girlfriend's voyage?
My last sailing was aboard the "Farewell Voyage" that-never-was on the SS Norway in 2001, so am greatly looking forward to this trip. I would especially like any info on the arrangements at the port in Barcelona please.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Richard.

P.S. My girlfriend does not know this yet and I know she won't find out from the forum, but I'm planning on proposing to her when we visit Rome. Wish me luck.
P.P.S. Malcolm, I see you live in Essex too, I trust you'll keep it under yer 'at in case word gets out!

I cruised on the SOTS Two years ago doing the same ports as yourself.
She is a great ship you will have a ball,
we really loved the solarium area which means you can enjoy a poolside culture but without the sun.

Barcelona is a great place to visit because the port is next to the heart of the city and your ship courtesy bus will take you right in, quite a lot of your sightseeing will be within walking distance.

The one thing I would have to moan about is the price of most products especialy trips, boy do they know how to charge.
Try and do some homework on what trips you can do yourself apart from Rome, there is just too much to get round and see without a guide.

The RCI website (American) has great info on all ports of call.

I hope you have a great time and good luck with the proposal, I think rome sould do the trick.

Although not state of the Art, she's a nice ship. The ports are great too.

Are you spending a few days in Barcelona pre or post?

Be prepare a fast paced trip. It is very port intensive w/most cruising at night but the ports are fantastic. The ship as mentioned is not state of the art compared to the newer Royal Caribbean ships but quite nice. Have a great trip!

Thanks for the replies, We only have time for one extra night in Barcelona unfortunately Malcolm. We'll be spending the Saturday following the cruise there, but we may return to spend more time in the future if we like it.
Thanks Gala Gary, I think Rome would be perfect.

Richard.
