The stacks look like one of NCL's old "white ships". STARWARD or SKYWARD?

Yup, Cunard Adventurer, Sunward II, Triton, Coral... I think she looked better with a blue hull myself, you don't see the dents:-

More pics of Coral in Gallery 1 and Gallery 2. For a full series of pics of her arrival at Barcelona see here [but 92 images].

Hi Pam, what a superb picture! (I see I’m having a bad influence on your photo skills )

Of course I instantly recognised the ship, but the answer was already given (don’t have much cruise talk time at the moment) I must say I love her original white hull, she almost passes again for a Cunarder, maybe not the stylish CA but she does now resemble her former and toned down fleet mate Cunard Prinsess.

Onno

PS: your sequence pictures from above are a perfect resource material for a future modelling project of mine.

Thanks Pam for the pictures! What were you doing in Barcelona?

The Louis logo/livery thing on the funnels are hideous. It looks like a cheap job.

Onno, I have similar overhead pics of New Flamenco for you too, but no where near as many. You'll have to wait a bit for them. Wayne, I was just pottering around after a week on Oceanic

I always loved the NCL "fin" stacks. SOUTHWARD was probably my favorite (although my least favorite "white ship" overall) as her stacks swept back a bit more. I also loved the 80's NCL stack colors ... especially on ss NORWAY.

Still a very attractive small ship. The stacks could use a few feet a black paint at the top to mask the exhaust stains. Looks like they should hire a professional sign painter next time to paint her name on the bow.

She could indeed, when I saw her as Triton in IJmuiden she was puffing out big clouds of black smoke as she departed. All passengers who were initially waving happily soon disappeared inside as the soot came down on her aft decks. Btw any one know what that metal box strapped on her deck before the funnel base is for? A pity her upper observation deck is cluttered and not well taken care of, I always feel sorry if a cruise line does not maintain at least the public decks visible to the passengers.

Ernie, I loved the 80’s NCL livery as well, the bleu shades and curved surfaces looked professional yet festive and bright. For fun I did a BIG U rendition in early NCL/Norway livery and it looked great on her.

Pam, where you standing on top of a building when you made the Coral pictures?

Hi Onno,
It looks like a generator or maybe an auxiliary a/c unit. I remember REMBRANDT had one attached to her after decks when I was onboard.

Great photos Pam !

I really hope that you had a wonderful cruise onboard Oceanic.

About Louis Coral I suppose that she was at Barcelona for a special charter.

I imagine that in the near future we'll see more Louis ships charterd fulltime... see Aquamarine... or even for short periods.

Also Sapphire will be chartered by Voyages of Discovery for two special cruises to the Red Sea and Lybia in April 2006.

I believe that Louis is making more money chartering their ships rather than operating them directly.

Here in Italy both Sapphire and Aquamarine offer half price cruises... it's very difficult for their ageing ships to compete with the Costa and Msc ones.
