Yes. Pullmantur is now the new R6's owner.

This is the press release:

Thanks for the news.

Is this the first of the R-ships to be actually sold? I wonder if this is the start of the process by the banks of getting the ships off their hands completely?

The owner of Minerva II [R8] is listed as P&O Cruises
The owner of the 2 Pacifics [R3 & R4] is listed as Copropriete du Navire who have the same address as P&O Cruises, so I guess they are all owned by P&O?

The rest are all still owned by Cruiseinvest, Regatta [R2], Nautica [R5, presently R5 Blue Star, was Blue Dream], Insignia [R1], R6 Blue Star [was Blue Dream], Delphin Renaissance [R7], and leased by the operators.

According to the Pullmantur website, R5 is still Blue Dream and R6 is Blue Star.
http://www.pullmanturcruises.com/crucerobritt/informacion.html

R5 does have a double name, at least that was on 11 May (see my photo-album).
On the bow and stern she has the name NAUTICA and midships on the hull BLUE DREAM.

Yes, Willem, I just pasted in the above and forgot to change it, they both say the same thing
R5 is Blue Dream now. For the Brazilian season over Christmas, it was R6 that was Blue Dream... gets confusing!

Bureau Veritas is showing R Six registered as Blue Dream [last updated on 12 July] and R Five as just Nautica, so the 'Blue' names haven't been registered really. It's worse than just R X

Pam,

You are going to meet the GRAND LATINO in almost every port. She is sailing the same route as OCEANIC. OCEANIC is ex Barvelona and GRAND LATINO is ex Valencia.

Are you sure? I heard that they were not cooperating with travel agents. And weren`t they owned by Alsthom - so just created to keep the yard busy?

When Pullmantur returned Insignia to Oceania kept the nama Blue Dream for the new one, so Blue Star become Blue Dream, at least for brochures. That is the origin of that name cofussion.

Yes, but 9/11 also caused their bankruptcy.

Welcome Normandie-BCN, thanks for that. Pullmantur do like to confuse us! Have you sailed on either of them under Pullmantur?

I have no personal experience with the R ships of Pullmantur but according the related posts in spanish cruise forums (www.infocruceros.com and www.cruceromania.net) appears to be very good cruise experience, at least for spanish tastes and considering the price they charge.

I think that this is the reason for which Pullmantur has bought the R-6 avoiding it would be taken also by Oceania or other.
