According to very well sources LOUIS bought the 75% of GOLDEN STAR Cruises shares.
An official announcement will follow soon. This issue is known only by few people.
We are going to have a monopoly next year in Piraeus except if any other cruise line decide to base a vessel in Piraeus.

Louis Cruises seems to expand more and more. I've never cruised on one of their ships but I understood that they provide a correct product at moderate fares. So I assume that's a good piece of news for greeks and others (I heard bad things about Golden Star Cruises).

Very good. I have read that the ship is not bad, but GOLDEN STAR / SUN / ...??? is not a very good company.

So I hope the ship has found a better home

I agree with Karsten.

When Aegean 1 debuted in 1988 as Aegean Dolphin she was, with the former Golden Odyssey, the only purpose built greek cruise ship.

I have cruised on her in July 1991, a wonderful experience.... excellent food and service.

At the time she was the best cruise ship offering 7 days cruises from Venice... her competitors were La Palma, Enrico Costa and The Azur.

I hope that with Louis Golden Star Cruises will get a better reputation.

Italian Cruiser,

Aegean Dolphin was not a "purpose built cruise ship". She was completed originally in 1973 for Zim as roro NARCIS. The Greeks reconstructed her to a cruise ship.

An excellent ship for Louis, again just like the Emerald went through a major re-building!

I wonder if she will be based out of Pireaus?? Or maybe Louis will chart a new homeport for her! I hope they only bought Golden Star for the ship, cause it would be better to just dispose of the name immediately and just incorporate Aegean 1 into the Louis fleet!

I wonder what ship Louis will go after next?? And is Caribic Star included in the purchase, as I believe she is run by the same company!!

Maybe they will buy the Topaz and completley re-build her, she would be a definite candidate for that purpose!! We only wish, but an excellent idea!!
She is still a solid ship and still looks and feels like a beauty, I wonder if it would take much to actually re-build the Topaz enough so she can sail past 2010!!
