For those in and around Southampton who are coming to view QM2 passing QE2, its been delayed by an hour due to the late arrival of QM2 due to her diversion Stateside to desembark a sick passenger.
QM2 is due to depart the Mayflower terminal at 18:00, will pass the QE2 at the QEII terminal and both ships will then sail relatively close together down Southampton Water.
I am working and unfortunately will get a distant view from the Container berths, so unfortunately will not be able to get any photos, damn!
No doubt Faith will be around with her camera, just hope a Red Jet doesn't get in her way! If you are around Faith, take the Hythe ferry, you'll certainly get a grandstand view.
Enjoy the event everyone.
Rgds,
Andrew

Yes, I'll be around, of course! I might go to Hythe, but will probably stay on Town Quay (not being very fond of Hythe and its population of Not In My Back Yards aka NIMBY's).

I am sure the people of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador will be horrified to hear that their Capital, St. John's, has been moved to the U.S.A. as implied by the use of the term "Stateside".

I got some good shots, Andrew (I'll put them on my website over the weekend). What about you - did you manage to get anything at all? You can't still have been stuck at work?

Managed to leave work a bit early, but could only see the event from Weston Shore, as it would have been a nightmare going to Hythe (my folks were over there and said it was mega busy!).
Will post the Arcadia photos hopefully tomorrow, as I am at work at present. I am really pleased with them!
Best rgds,
Andrew

Great photos! The pics of Arcadia on your site clearly show the modifications P&O did to her former QE2 style stack. From what I can see, the side shields were extended upward to line up with the top of the funnel, the windscoops were of course eliminated and those awful bright metal exhaust pipes fitted to give it a completely different look.

I'm a bit confused here so perhaps someone will unconfuse me. The Cunard brochure and site has always had QM2 down to leave at 6pm, while the QE2 was 5pm. So I'm afraid I don't understand about delaying it.

I missed the QE2 passing QM2 last May on the way to Bremerhaven, though did film them arriving from my bedroom window. Was very disappointed in June, as were a lot of people at the marina, QM2 went first while QE2 turned round. So I was glad they did it this time though it could have done with being a bit warmer like 2 days before! I drag my dad with me so he can film while I take photos but he enjoys it too apart from the cold and rain.

We have two seasons here - cold and wet and slightly warmer and wet!

No, seriously, while our winters are horrible - cold, damp, misty and murky - our summers are usually warm and pleasant and we get our fair share of sunshine.

Just be thankful you live where you do - we are coming up to the summer season here in the northern hem, but already the thought of next winter fills me with dread.

I live in sydney so its livable weather, abosultely hate the cold, but wouldn't want to live at the top end of australian too hot, nice for a holi thou. our winters are like LA, America, only comparing as i went in Jan, get down to the low 10 degrees sometimes, but gets to the mid 20s during the day, but don't get as much rain as LA, prob cause we r in drought, as 4 autum, spring and summer absolutely perfect, thoguht i would rub it in a bit

That isn't hot as I remind my mother when she starts whingeing about it. The only grumble about UK summers is that they are not warm and dry, they're warm and damp as we have a very humid climate. That makes it less pleasant.
