And as to where the PP will go? later this year it does the south pacific, hawaii, a few from honolulu and then some beijing/thailand. It will then return to australia from sept?-march? and then after that who knows! I wonder if this ship will just do exotics year round? or it may go up to alaska for the season as well?

i would have expected a full year replacement for Pacific Sky/Sun/Star (probably not the latter 2) rather than Pacific Princess...
So pretty much its 2 'grand' style princess' running around the same time of the year to the same region (though different itineraries within the region)......to replace a more 'premium' product?

There you are Phil as we speculated. However didn't expect Pacific Princess leaving our shores. That can be counted as a real loss in my opinion. Eroller (Ernie) said it, "Too bad for Australia. PACIFIC PRINCESS is the much more desirable ship. Upscale instead of mass-market."
Well, it's going to be mass-market, that's the bulk of the market here in Oz anyway. It will work.

When Pacific Sky departs Singapore (either sold or scrapped) will it be Pacific Princess or Dawn Princess that will take over that season in SE Asia? This is an option true?

Maybe Carnival/P&O are testing water with the DAWN PRINCESS....possibly a replacement ship for the PACIFIC SKY or an addition to the fleet. Sad to hear that the PP will leave the South Pacific shores. I wonder what Carnival has planned? (PP redeploy to Europe? returning PP to her owners? Giving her to P&O as an adult ship, possibly replacing the ROYAL RPINCESS? or shifting her to a different brand?
They are advertising all the Austrailian brand as "premium". I don't think the we can consider the PACIFIC SKY and PACIFIC SUN as premium . DAWN PRINCESS no nowhere premium compared to the PP!

We could also see a replacement, especally of the Pacific Sky aswell.
I find it weird also the PP is going, she was always full and every1 loved her.
But I do like the Dawn Princess in our waters, being in the younger generation, I may chose her over the funships as she has a nightclub and childcare facilities, meaning that it is catering for the younger crowd. And it will be cheaper to cruise on her than the funships if I chose to stay in a twin and not the 3rd and 4th berth options. This could effect the old tonnage's bookings. Hopefully Carnival are testing this ship in our waters and replace all our ships in the fleet with Princesses, Sun Class ships, as they are attractive ships and superior to the Old tonners we have at the moment. Also bring back the PP once this is done.

Also on other notes, i was looking at pricing of the Dawn Princess in Aussie dollars a 7 night Alaskan cruise is $1200 to $1400 in the lowest grade twin. That is what we are paying for the old tonners to stay in the lowest grade four berth. I dout Australians will be charged the same to travel on DP, they will definately increase fares, i don't think they can charge as much as PP, that would be a crime. I'm seeing it as Carnival Corp just wanting to make extra dollars on the Dawn so they are just placing it were they no they can get the extra $$$$$ Australia. But I am glade to c a superliner based here. What do others think P&O will charge
DP is displacing PP as HAL don't want any mid-size competition with the Statendam when she arrives. Princess is slowly being positioned as the 'big ship' premium line in the Carnival stable and HAL as the mi-size premium offering. HAL plans to draw heavily in the AU/NZ markets and the PP might draw away potential pax from HAL.
With the Pacific being displaced from her front-runner role in Australia and Tahitian being pulled out of Polynesia, I wouldn't be surprised to see these two ships brought into the HAL fold in 2007.

It seems to me that sailing for Bermuda from New York, and for that matter any eastern USA port, is starting to change and I wonder how the roster of ships will look sailing to the Island 5 years from now. I think the Pacific Princess would be a perfect fit.

Talk about one company controlling the market. This is a prime example of why I felt the Carnival buy-out of Princess should never have been approved.
