I am pefectly happy for Malcolm to abridge...

From ShipHappens (UK Based) : From a person (and Snr Officer) who rightly in my mind "considers themselves to be fully a part of this family” as well, and who has great pleasure to update us on the works in progress on all the vessels (Former SunCrusies)"…………………

HERE IS THE NEWS!!! (Imagine News At Ten Opening Titles please with Sir T!) Brit based TV Main News bulletin) Boing...........

1. Seawing: Having had the honour to sail Seawing from Palermo, Italy to the port of Perama, Greece, She continuous laid up, undergoing various maintenance works and upgrades: including (at last!) completion of the Sprinkler installation [to meet SOLAS 2005], dedicated survey of hull & ships machinery; and of course several upgrades to the passenger areas - renewal of soft furnishings, replacement of carpets etc. A date for the official renaming to Perla has yet to be determined but She is scheduled to cruise out of Piraeus for three and four day cruises commencing April 29th - HOORAY! Boing.................
2. Sunbird: She is currently tied-up at the Piraeus pax terminal and is scheduled to be similarly moved to Perama, where a multi-million £ refurbishment will take place. As these upgrade works are determined by Thomson Cruises (TUI), any relative info will have to be obtained from this Germany based operator. Boing................
3. Carousel: She will be definitely be renamed “Aquamarine" and will start cruising from Genoa on June 4th, 2005 for seven day cruises to the West Med. [An itinerary for those who want it, is only an email away – so please ask!!] Again, a firm date for renaming is undecided but it will be between May 25th and June 4th. Numerable but minor upgrades in the passenger areas have been planned - predominantly in the cabin's and their bathrooms, as well as public room carpet refurbishments. Boing................
4. Sundream: Presently still laid up in Greece, as as She is managed by another company, we await firm and decisive News on what if any works carried are to be out by they.

Those who are interested to sail with the Seawing/Perla & Carousel/Aquamarine, please contact me, John Hagan (The Merchant), to see if WE can foster some benefits as a group of like-minded individuals!! Folks who wish to sail on board the Sunbird/Thomson Destiny will have to contact Thomson's but again, may I suggest, as a group of like-minded individuals??!! There is undoubtedly a huge (ginormous) 'family' of former passengers, devotes and ordinary people feeling, I am sure, thoroughly "CAST ADRIFT", by the deliberate demise of Sun Cruises - its staff - ships' companies (crews) - and of course former known and loved vessels - anyone disagree?

I and many other persons in this complicated equation promise to keep you informed of any developments, as they happen; do you, the Brit PAX wish to Roar as Lions or bleat like sheep? I don’t!!!

The value in numbers makes people count and perhaps why 'we' mastered evolution and not 'Marketing'- you do therefore matter - so don't be alone - vote with your email address and get "this family" firmly and securely rooted! Kunta Kinte - and "a prize" to the first old enough (or 'sad' enough!!!) to 'identify' what is reminiscenced :-) Respect, and the end of this particular NEWS Broadcast!

Great news about the ships. I was a huge fan of Sun Cruises in general and Sunbird in particular.

Any news of the personalities, Rock Dodger, Chief Mark, Joff the CD, etc?

And yes please either email or (preferably) post any itineraries...

Delighted to reply: it means referring you to web page. This is a perculiar or much domesticated issue of Brit PAX concern?

Thank You for the news The Merchant.
I was on a Carousel cruise in 2002 around Canary Islands, Morocco and Madeira, with my vife and daughter.
I loved every second of the journey and every inch of the ship. Nice crew and officers, and lots of nice food. I can´t find any negative things to say at all.

Sincerely René.
