quote:Originally posted by OCEANSDEVINE:Lots of rocking and rolling on this cruise but never experienced what happened on the last evening Wed. 1/16 on return to Norfolk. It was about 9PM we were being served dinner in the Rotterdam Restaurant, when it seemed like something hit us and there was an extremely loud noise. Everything in the dining room crashing to the floor. I was all the way at the window midship. I was covered with glassware, wine, water, soup etc. Everyone screamed. We listed portside for quite a distance but were still sailing. The staff scrambled to get people to remain calm and to see if anyone was hurt. However, the main goal was to get back to normal but things were really silent. I was disappointed at HAL for not informing people what happened. The wine somalier offered us replacement wine but not a bottle which we lost, just 2 glasses and since the wine we ordered was not sold by the glass we were given something else, I dont' know what but it was not as good as we bought. So I am extremely unhappy with the way things were handled. After this my 26th cruise, I was truly happy to be home. Any there at the time?
Its seems that you are more unhappy about the wine thene about what happen. Strange that nothing came out about this on other sites. Buth cane you tell us what happend with the Maasdam. Do you never ask what happen ore contacted HAL inn Seattle.
It must be scarry whene such thing happens. Buth happy you return safe.

Ben I did read about it on another site, but no one seems to know what happened.
In March 2003 we experience something similar in the dining room. Conversations stopped and an awe went through the room.According to the Captain it was stabliser problem. Nevertheless not really a fun thing

quote:Originally posted by OCEANSDEVINE:No the main concern was not about the wine. I was distressed that the on board doctor was not called to check passengers. The two people sitting at our table on the opposite of us were later complaining about pains in their stomachs due to the fact that they hit the table (which of course was attached to the floor). .
Maybe people were hurt and the doctor was working on them ?
Anyway, when you hurt yourself, don't sit like a duck waiting for someone to come. Go for yourself.
What are you doing at home when you don't feel well ? ?
Norfolk return run, always has wobbly weather.
I find that many will let concerns go unaddressed and then still hold a grudge after not doing so. You may be pleased with a response from them.
