On a side note, what is the connection between the Bush family and Latsis family?

quote:
From MPA News:
Meanwhile, the yacht with former US President George Bush Senior, his wife and his two granddaughters (daughters of US President George Bush Junior) arrived at the sea region of Molivos, in the northeastern Aegean island of Lesvos today.

They arrived in Greece yesterday to attend the Athens Olympic Games. Their yacht that belongs to the Latsis family of shipowners will sail into the port of Piraeus tomorrow.

Who will be staying on QM2 ?

I heard she was meant by the IOC for receiving heads of state - the russian president Putin, french president Chirac ?

The Belgian king comes to the opening ceremonies - will he stay there ? Other kings, queens, presidents, prime ministers, royals ... ?

J.

I have read that former President Bush, his wife and the two Bush Girls will be on board, as well as the USA Men's Basketball team. Not sure whom else, but it should be interesting to see.

I know of at least one CruiseTalker who is on board for the entire charter. Hopefully, we will get a report back about the trip.

Putin will stay onboard the Westerdam. And Bush & family will stay onboard a yacht chartered/borrowed by a (Greek?) shipowner, from what I've heard. QM2 will house Blair and his family.

It would be nice if that news service used a nice photo of the completed and freshly painted QM2. The sea trial photos used do not show her to her best advantage.

It would also be nice if they could get the name right. Queen Mary II was queen from 1689 to 1694. She reigned jointly with her husband William III (of Orange). The ship's name is Queen Mary 2 and there is no connection between the two.
