It reminded me of Fairwind/Sea with that split upper boat deck/catwalk section. It was covered by fiberglass panels placed at right angles to line up with the davits above. I thought Fairsky had a similar arrangement with a larger boat deck below and a small mini promenade above.

Yes it's the m.v. Costa Romantica. Picture was taken in august 2000 whene we crossed frome st. Petersburg to Helsinki on a 12 day Eastsea cruise.

Here a picture frome here in Copenhagen. The ship before here is the gts Millenium frome Celebrity Cruises.

That is a totally utilitarian boat deck-for a nice looking ship. I guess her designers did'nt think passengers liked to stroll on a nice wide teak deck. I guess it was designed for emergency use only.

Anyhow, I am surprised to see how narrow the boat deck is on a contempory ship. Now if I rember correctly, the FANTASY-class was only a little bit wider?

The Costa Classica / Romantica design where ussed fore the Statendam class ships off Holland America. Iff you take a close look to those vessels you will found simmulair design elements.
Only the Statendam class vessels are with no doubt the best design interior as exterior.

You cane walk the ship round the boat deck is very narrow. I remember to wonder what happens iff we must leave ship.

The boat deck onboard Costa Classica and Costa Romantica is just partly opened to the passengers, if I remember well just the forward sections.
The hull of Costa Classica is pretty much the same of Statendam, but the latter one is with no doubt a far better designed ship.
Costa Classica and Romantica are quite traditional ships, if compared with the contemporary Regal Princess or Statendam Class, built by the same yard.

Hi Italian Cruiser.

Whene we where on board Costa Romantica we found no problems to walk on this part off the ship. The boat deck was open fore passengers.
You can circel the ship iff you start at the Bar Terrazza on the Madrid deck down the stairs to boat deck on Vienna deck walk forwards at the hight off the first life boat and the ships name one the hull there is also stairs down thene you will able to reach the forward deck over looking the bow. Passengers are able to reach the boatdeck section showed on my picture by doors on the Vienna deck. To walk this part off the ship is somthing scarry by the norrow off this deck. Certain the part under the balconys. Buth the views.

I agree with you that the Statendam ships are far better designed ships. I don't agree that the Costa Classica / Romantica class are traditional ships in comparisson with the Statendam class. The Statendam layout and promonade deck make this class off ships fare more traditional thane the Costa ships.
