Pam. You got me worried reading your message that OV is to be auctioned. At first I thought you were refering to the Ocean Village on which I am due to sail io April 20!

Best wishes. Tony

Pam. No, I haven't sailed on OV before and am going this time because it is a transatlantic trip. Beforehand I am going on the French chartered Adriana March 16-31 Med/Canaries. I have yet to come across anyone who has sailed on her.
Best wishes. Tony

OK all cruise talkers empty their savings , we could buy one of those ships and finally have our own ship and meeting place.

Heres the press release from SeaTrade Insider:

Olympia Explorer, Voyager auctions set
5/3/2004
Olympia Explorer will go to auction in Los Angeles on March 24, while Olympia Voyager is scheduled to be sold on the Broward County Courthouse steps in Fort Lauderdale on March 26, the Miami Herald reports. Net proceeds will go to creditors.
The Royal Olympia subsidiaries that owned the two high-speed vessels filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Honolulu in December and later agreed to allow creditors to sell the ships at auction.

The Herald quotes attorney Michael Moore of Moore & Co., who represents the ships’ primary creditors, a group of German banks that are owed approximately $130m. Royal Olympia paid $175m each for the 25,000gt vessels from Blohm + Voss.

They're a bit pricey!! But the idea is great. Which other vessel should we buy?

Cheers

Hello,
I ve heard that pullmanturs has an eye on one or both of the ships. Perhaps it is only a rumour.
Bye,

Isn't it a favourite star trick buying ships at bankruptcy auction. I'm thinking particularly of the Athena and Kalypso which were their first purchases when that part of Viking Line went Bankrupt.
Would the Olympia sisters be any good for Asia? I suspect they are too small, not enought room for a Casino and not flashy enough.

Celebrity Cruises should have an eye on them too from what I've heared. But this cannot be confirmed. They would be a good addition, maybe to do the 1-week Bermuda-cruises including a stop in Madeira... :-))
Just a joke, but anyway I think they'd do fine with Celebrity !

I wouldn't be surprised if Celebrity makes a bid on these twins. I can't think of anyone else who would want to operate these costly ships....

Would this fit with Celebrity's plan to expand their "Xpedition" brand? I really don't know if the ROC twins are small enough for more exotic destinations- but their speed might be valuable.

Celebrity would do well with one of the wins doing maybe Alaska cruises May-Oct and maybe South Pacific/Tahiti in winter. The other one could do Bermuda in summer and South America in winters.

I believe they will stay pretty much in the North American market...but who knows!

Maybe My Travel could work out a Charter for them! Great additions!

I dont think Star would be interested too small!
