Hmmm the name SPIRIT of the SEAS sounds ok I guess. The drawings doesn't look very professional, but I bet there would not be much changes from the older to the later...

Thanks Landlock Cruiser. Maybe Tim can comment on it?

Hmmm... guess I should have compared them to Project Paradise. The 3D view is the same. At least on www.rccldesign.com they are identified as products of the imagination. On the site I linked there is no such disclaimer.

That's why I come to the experts...

Very funny... these are indeed my "Project Paradise" drawings that you can see on my website here. This is nothing actual... Will write to the webmaster ASAP and ask for an explanation.

The most fun is that:
1- he mixes my old drawing/3D rendering and my future GA sketch so that his own "info" isn't coherent.
2- he mixes these drawings with the actual characteristics of the UVY, which do not correspond at all.

So yes this is all fake info and has nothing to do with the UVY. I think the guy must have been confused by the name "Spirit of the seas" because I remember reading on his website that he thought it would be the name of the UVY.

rccldesign-- Well, at least it got me looking at your site in more depth. I had bookmarked it some time ago but had only looked at a couple pages, intending to come back later. When I saw the link on another board, calling them the first images of the ultra voyager ship, I did not realize I had seen some of them before. I have now gone back and looked more closely at your work. Very fascinating, and it must be fun to do!

By the way, from his email address the person who posted the link on the other board appears to be the same person that runs the site on which the copied images appeared. After reading RANGERVR6178's post above, I replied on that board. The images have since been taken off the site. I think the guy got fed some bad information and uncredited images.

I'ts just my opinion on this one but , Why does RCCL need ANOTHER supercruiseship , they have 19 SHIPS !!! that's a big fleet , if they keep on building like that it will become their doom one day.

Because they can fill them all with passengers! If and when they can't one day, they will dispose of some tonnage. That's business!

I must say that in my opinion RCI are clearly the market leaders in cruise ship design.

Carnival just accepted their 20th vessel...why would it not be Carnival's doom but would be RCI's? Remember, Carnival Corp has to purchase ships for many lines, RCI only for two. I think the more ships they have at higher economies of scale, the better of RCI will be

you all act as if Carnival is the chief here , carnival just provides part of the money and has a percentage (lower than 50) in these company's , if otherwise it would be stupid to keep the company's because it would be a lot cheaper to make them all just one big cruise line.

I'm sure Carnival would prefer just one big cruise line. However, they are well aware that the 'Fun Ship' concept would not appeal to everyone in the in the cruising world. It is a very American concept.

This is why Carnival have purchased so many 'brands'. They will want to retain much of the identity of each, so they still appeal to each particular market niche. However, they will also been looking to creating a uniniformity, to reduce costs. The Vista Class is a good example of this: one ship design, branded for each cruise line.

By the way, Carnival are the 'Cheifs' here. They own Cunard 100%. The QM2 was built with Carnival funds. Cunard were not in a position to fund such a project.

If you think about It, Carnival are building a pseudo-classic fleet for Cunard. Both the QM2 and QV are of course newbuilds, but designed to recreate a classic ocean liner style. They obviously no longer feel that they need ‘real’ classic vessels to do this.

Carnival will be making ALL of the decissions about Cunard's future.

And so is MARINER. I don't know why they are the biggest, but I am guessing its because the balcony on these two ships stick out so there is more interior space?

Yes, because the balconies just out from the ship, a bit more floor space is included in the interior volume, hence the slightly larger tonnage.
