I just came off the Transatlantic cruise of the Millennium this past Sunday. The night before arriving in Saint Maartin at the late seating dinner the engines started to rev up heavily and there was alot of vibration for several minutes. Nothing was said about what happened but the ship did end up spending extra time in Saint Thomas for refueling and then arrived in Port Everglades Saturday at around 10 instead of early the next morning. Upon arrival in Port Everglades the Starboard side of the ship was cut open around the Celebrity logo on the hull and a huge piece of steel was lifted off before work began on the ship. The word on the street was that one of the bearings went again but I beleive that would require drydocking. Anyone have an answer or a clue for that matter?

i haven't read anything in the news about it but i think it sounds like one of the generators may have tripped and as a result the ship slowed down, the sudden slow down would cause vibration and the 'rev up in engines' could have been the standby gen set starting up. just a guess.

I was on the same cruise and people I talked to told me a Transformer had gone and she would not be sailing till midnight Sunday.
