Assedo is finally sold to scraps for 3,5 mio and she is leaving her old hope port for good on Nov 15th.
Hope you all know well where they destroy good all liners of the past. Think that Taras will be the next.

Wasn't the ASSEDO sold to China for cruising?????????

And TARAS will be the next??? Why her refit????

Assedo wasn`t sold to China. The owners seem not to have agreed with the Chinese. Now the ship is being getting to ready to leave to India. As for Taras she seems to be in good condition but having about 2/3 of cabins without private facilities she cannot even ve competitive in Russian market.
They announced a New Year cruise in Mediteranean, but no one knows the company which promotes and sells it!

That is very sad!

Like we haven't lost enough liners this year. Let's hope the TARAS can eke out a few more years....

Hello everybody,

hard to believe but true.... But I really start to wonder about this story now as at Omiks Ltd. they seemed to be happy with the ship's operation before the sale to China became up-to-date....
Anyway, I have launched steps now in order to save the ship from scrapping as I was contacted by an interested party looking for the ASSEDO, TARAS SHEVCHENKO and FEDOR SHALJAPIN.
Hope they can react quickly enough now.
I'll keep you updated. Don't loose hopes !!!

This is a strange question also for me because when onboard last time I was told that Omiks is quite happy with the booking situation and the Metropolis Tur staff seemed to be very engaged in their work.
But the ship still reflected also a bit the old Soviet traditions as some lounges can only be accessed at specific times and some cabins do still not have private facilities. I therefore guess that also the information given out on the vessels situation have been made better than it really was behind the scenes....This is common in the Ukrainian shipping industry.
But honestly in this case I really thought they do well enough to keep the ship going a few more years if nobody would make such an offer again as the Chinese did.

Interesting. I would love to see these ships saved.

I'm wondering why they would be interested in SHALYAPIN though? She seems like a goner...

Isn't really 3.5 mio for scrap for a ship size like the Assedo really too much?
I hope there are just rumors anyway, she's a good strong lady and well taked care during the last years. She's even not really old as build in 1968 ..
The difference from her and the Taras (good luck to her too) is that she HAS all cabin (99 % outside) with private facilities.
Let's hope for the better...

Assedo was sold for the amount mentioned. However, the buyers seem to have bought her for scrap price but going to have a liner for cruise/travel purposes in Indian Ocean. They are eager to get a live ship, not a piece of metal.
As for Taras all those inrested in her can visit www.mv-tarasshevchenko.com.ua site.
It is in Russian, however.

Thanks for the link. Aside from the lower-category cabins without facilities, she actually looks quite pleasant internally (probably nicer than ASSEDO though she seems to have better cabins).
