Hi Keitaro, many thanks for posting this link! I have been searching for additional photos of Pacific Princess (other than those on the P&O Australia site).

I am booked on her first cruise when she returns to Australian waters in November - only 19 weeks to go!

Have booked a stern balcony cabin 6093, but finding information on this type of cabin also seems elusive. There are only 6 of these cabins on the ship, situated between the owners suites.

By looking at the deck plans, it would appear the cabin is just that little bit wider and the balcony just a bit longer than the standard balcony cabins on Deck 6 - hope I'm right!

Thanks again
Roby

Keitaro, don't suppose you or any other member has a photo/photos of the stern of Pacific Princess or could direct me to a website that has?

Thought I might be able to see if my original thoughts on the larger balconies for stern cabins were right?

Many thanks
Robyn

Robyn,

Some of the balconies on the Pacific are larger than others... I don't recall which ones are larger than others, but I do remember some of the standard mini suites with larger balconies on deck 7 if memory serves.

Looking at the picture above, it seems Princess didn't fully cover the dark blue paint from the R-days.

I was thinking the same thing. And with the small seawitch on the funnel, it almost seems like they don't plan to keep them long. Maybe in the next couple of years the two ships will go to Swan Hellenic.

With Carnival at the helm - its very possible that Swan Hellenic could be built into a larger brand with three very lovely R-ships in their fleet.

Thanks to all for your responses!

bigpapaduck - I had heard this also about the larger balconies. I have now had it confirmed from someone who stayed in the Owners Suite next to our cabin (and had an opportunity to view our cabin) that the stern balconies on Deck 6 are larger than the stern balconies on Decks 7 & 8. Apparently even the wraparound balconies for the Owners Suites are larger on Deck 6 than Decks 7 & 8. If you look at the photo Joe posted, I suppose this makes sense for the stern cabins, as the ship slopes back and narrows as the decks go up. So I am well pleased with my choice.

Joe -thanks for the photo!

Keitaro - thanks for posting the links. Regarding the paint colour. I thnk the photo was taken by BMajor during the inaugural cruise out here. Maybe they hadn't had time to finish it?

Noordam - Whilst I agree they would make a great addition to Swan Hellenic, I do hope Pacific Princess doesn't stop doing cruises "down under". We only have the "Pacific Sky" which is having a lot of problems, then we are supposed to feel exultant at "Jubilee" being sent down here soon. Personally - (and please don't shoot me down, it's only my opinion) - I can't quite get excited about it. I understand she will have a re-fit, but she is to be marketed as one of the "Fun Ships" and will no doubt be successful as that. I don't understand why they don't replace Pacific Sky with the Jubilee.

For those of us who like a smaller, classier ship, Pacific Princess seems to fit the bill, was extremely popular during her first season down here and bookings are high for the 2nd season starting in November.

I also note from the Princess website that instead of heading back to do an Alaskan season after her time here, she is slated to do several Asian cruises - Japan to China, China to Thailand. She is also doing what looks to be a fabulous cruise from Cape Town to Sydney via Madagascar and Mauritius. Mmmm....wonder how I could afford that one?

Thanks again to all
Robyn

Hi Bmajor,

Thanks for the good wishes! Really looking forward to our cruise on PP. Have just re-read your review of the inugural Oz cruise last year. May have a few questions for you before we go.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your Superstar Leo cruise.

Will be interested to hear your thoughts on Star Princess. No P&O trans-Pacific "ferry" for you next year - or are you on the waiting list for Aurora or Adonia?

I will be too, especially in comparison with SUPERSTAR LEO... Two "foreign" megaships in Australian waters.

It will be interesting to see the Australian take on the stereotypical American megaliner. Oh well, I do love to hate these GRAND-class ships, just like some people feel the same about the VOYAGER-class...

Hi again Robyn

Just checked the itinerary for your cruise.
First call at Poum....
a new call for P&O
that should be great....
and on the way home you get to check out
Lord Howe Island.

"NoP&O trans-Pacific "ferry" for you next year - or are you on the waiting list for Aurora or Adonia?"

We will settle for Star this year, booked Sy to Ak but would love to join in Auckland, sail to Sydney and then do the crossing back to Ak.....have asked P&O but a bit early yet......perhaps closer to sailing they will let us board in Ak......
Adonia is very tempting......
Wonder if we could join in Darwin and cruise around to Perth??????......
That would really throw the booking office......
