Just wanted to say hi to everyone, been reading these posts for years now and have been meaning to join for ages, so often want to get in on discussions but never got around to it.

But i have noticed a decided drop off in posts lately, and this has prompted me to finally jump onboard so to speak!

Its funny, i feel i know so many of you almost personally from reading your posts and quite often the heated discussions that i feel reveal little bits of ones personalities..... Which is great, cos we should all be passionate about at least one thing and here i suppose thats likely to be ships!

Look forward to many interesting discussions, and a pick up in peoples involvement and posts would be good too

Better late than never! Welcome aboard, at least from my corner of this board's universe. I am sure I am really not the right person to welcome someone here, but nevertheless ...

As for the drop in postings - it was part of the reason that I decided to "come back" after "lurking" for a few months. Things seem to be churning up, but thankfully not too much...

Welcome aboard Star. Not sure what drop off you and cruiseny were noticing but the number of page views on Cruise Talk reached an all time high prior to cruiseny's most recent "return". Remember, quality is more important the quantity.

Hey, what about me. I was lurking for a long time as well and I only started posting here because I could tell the board really need my help.

Want to know something interesting?

I almost never, ever start a thread. If you look back over all my thousands of posts you will see that almost all of them are responses to other posters. Want to know why?

It's because I know everything !!! There isn't a ship-related question that I don't know the answer to. Therefore it would be silly for me to post a question since I already have all the answers.

I much prefer to monitor the board and answer other people's questions. That way I can show everyone how much I know. I monitor every thread so that every time someone makes a post I get an e-mail alert. As soon as I get the message I scramble up onto the pile of phone books in my chair and see what the post was about. In almost all cases I know the answer so I feel compelled to post a response. I especially like to post responses that allow me to divert the thread into some esoteric subject area and include links to other web sites. That is way cool.

Can you believe it? In the last 24 hours I have posted 33 times and not one of the posts was a question - they were ALL answers to your questions. Sometimes I wonder if it is possible for me to be more helpful.

Some of you may be wondering if I spend too much time on this board. To you I say, one person's "too much" is another person's "unhealthy obsession".

Who needs to go outside and interact with other humans when you can spend all day in front of a keyboard showing others how much you know. Golly, at an average of 3 minutes to type and post each of my missives, that's only 99 minutes a day or a mere 7% of my life.

It sure beats playing with kids my own age.

Until someone makes another post...

Welcome to our happy little club, Star. As you can see, we all get along just fine...

PS What is cold fusion? I was once served some soup which could have gone by that name...

I don't agree - Cruisenj adds some very welcome light relief without being malicious.
