Celebrity's Millennium just returned from a reburfishment, and now sports a new look. She has been repainted to more closely resembly her earlier sisters, the Horizon and Century classes. I think she looks better, as I never liked all the red and yellow accents. What do you all think.

Her original look:

A very definate improvement. We sat across from her at Santorini for a day and every time we looked in that direction we just thought "HOW UGLY"

Well, I wasn't crazy about the original scheme but the new one really makes her look like a haphazard collection of shapes and angles.

I'm also getting that little red box with an "x" in it where the photo of the repainted Millennium should be. Could you repost it, please?

Too many colours- replace the orange/gold with white - the deep blue/black? hull is OK.

I would imagine that each of the Millennium class will be repainted to match the rest of the fleet. I think that this will give the fleet a nice sense of continuity... It is a much crisper look, more in keeping with the nautical yachting image that the line esposes.

Is there anyone that liked the old look better ! ?

Im torn but i guess any color will do as long she is not painted in Thomson Cruises colors !

At least Celebrity tried something new with the old Millennium paint scheme (even if im the only one who liked it)

Nothing like a coat of white paint to make an ugly ship look like a big metal box. In my opinion she has not one graceful line. She looks like a giant container that fell off a container ship.

Yes, I liked the original paint job better!

I think white ships are pretty unimaginative. I?d like to see more black or navy blue used, at least for the hulls. I think that a dark hull on a cruise ship makes them look like a traditional Ocean Liner. This trick works well for ships such as the Disney ships and even Caronia.

Although some of the Celebrity fleet look O.K. from a distance, the closer you get the more angular they become.

I must say that 'Brilliance' and 'Radiance of the Seas' which are similar size ships to Millennium, and built on the same hull design, look so much more sleek for big ships, due to their more curved profiles.

My favorite ship the Crown Odyssey looks much better after Orient painted her white hull black. It also makes dents and rust harder to see.

A classic floating brick to say the least. I'm not sure which I liked better; I think the solid blue hull would have been fine, but with the extra colors on it, the ship looked a bit too much like something out of Fisher-Price. The new paint job at least makes it more consistent with the rest of the line's livery, but there are only so many ways one can dress up a pig. And the kicker is, I'll probably eventually sail on this vessel anyway, if for no other reason than to bask in the glory of the Olympic Restaurant.

I totally agree about this class vs. RCI's Radiance class. The latter are much prettier.

The Crown Odyssey's hull went back to it's original colour with Royal Cruise Line - dark blue, which is actually much better than straight black.

Peter,

When the CROWN ODYSSEY was still with Royal Cruise Lines, her hull wasn't blue, but white, with a narrow blue stripe.

rd77...you're right. Just had a look at some pix from a Christmas trip on her 10 years ago before the vandals from NCL destroyed a good company yet again.

any change of color does not improve the whole look of the millenium class ships - they still look like a big floating square metal block - too much of the look of a floating hotel for me

HUGE IMPROVEMENT!!!

I said when she was first launched that her paint scheme was not appropriate for a premium market cruise ship. the blue-yellow-white-red mix was more suited for a mass market ship, and with "gas turbine" along the hull she looked like something out of a comic book.

Celebrity is making the right improvments to move the brand more upscale. She looks more elegent- and more unified (yes, she is a box like most ships today- but at least she is now a classy box). And she fits with the rest of the fleet.

Hooray for Celebrity's new management, may this be the beginning of more good news.
