the regal empress of regal cruise
line visited new london, ct. today.
she was the talk of the town.
many people watched from the banks of the thames river as
this former ocean liner docked
at the state pier.
it is the first time a cruiseship
of this size has visited connecticut. i was told the passengers visited the mystic seaport museum, new london submarine museum and other atractions. the new london harbor
is like a minature version of
new york harbor but with no
cruise ship terminals.
rumor has it the regal empress
may make new london her new
home port for the summer cruises.
new york is getting a bit crowded
with new builds arriving next year. many locals here admired
the empress as a classic.

Where did she dock?

I'd be sad to see her leave NY harbor but at the same time it would be good for CT to have a cruiseship port... But can New London support one?

Has anyone been on the Regal Empress? We are trying to decide if we want to sail on her. Any input would be helpful. Thanks

the regal empress docked at the
state pier located below the
i-95 gold star bridge in new lodon harbor.
the state pier is currently
used to off load freighters of
lumber and other cargo.
to those who are interested in
cruising aboard the regal empress expect lots of wood and
brass since she is an old ocean
liner. her outer decks are a great place to take in the scenary. the meals are as good
if not better then the more popular cruise lines.
if selecting a cabin i recommend
any cabin from the restraunt deck up to the sun deck.
this ship has no glitz or glamour but well cared for.
i have been on her twice and
plan on going on her in 2003.
