Can somebody tell me what happened to 50000 grt. ship which was been built for Antonios Lelakis to become Regent Sky ?
The delivery was scheduled for 2001 and the last owner was National Bank of Greece.

The supposed Regent Sky, a converted ferry originally owned by Stena Lines, was never completed. The half finished ship is currently laid up in Greece, near Piraeus.

I think I asked about this ship ages ago. Her sisters are now Greek ferries, no?

One of them is, yes (the EL. VENIZELOS of ANEK lines of Greece). That was one of the two ships that Stena didn´t want anymore (REGENT SKY being the other. The two ships that were delivered to Stena are still with them as STENA GERMANICA and STENA SCANDINAVICA.

Star Cruises recently revealed in a statement that they were planning a 46,000 ton; 4,000 passenger cruise ship for the Chinese market. Could they take over and complete Regent Sky instead? She's a bit smaller than the on Star was/is planning, but there is the advantage of her being mostly complete, and I imagine the asking price must be quite low by now.

For some reason I thought that the regent Sky was supposed to have beeen around 50,000 GRT. Maybe I am wrong about this one. But I still can not see how one could fit 4000 pax on a 46,000 GRT ship. Is that a typo Britanis, or just some pecuilarity to the Chinese market??

You can't put 4.000 passengers on a ship. Have you considerated the number of lifeboats that it should require ? Even if it was possible also the Voyager of the Seas will be overcrowded with so many persons onboard...

I don't think this would work out well. The ship would be more than crowded with 4000 pax.
Concerning finishing of the REGENT SKY: This won't be that easy since the engines and main parts of generators and so on did all disappear. Nobody really wants to know what happened with them...
About the EL VENIZELOS: The ship is currently up for sale.

Whoops, that was a typo, Regent Sky was indeed supposed to be 50,000 gross tons. But, the ship Star was/is discussing (I say discussing, not planning because few thing at Star actually make it to that stage) is indeed 46,000 tons AND 4,000 pax- so with Regent Sky they could get one extra ton per passenger. 4,000 pax on a 50,000 ton ship can be done, they probably shouldn't, but they can. The 48,000 ton Imperator carried just over 4,000, which I think may be a record capacity for a passenger ship.

Does this mean the engines and generators wer stolen? Or were they secretly sold by regency, the shipyard, or one of the ship's later owners to erase some debt? Or am I reading too much into this?

I hope you don't mind, but what is the El Venizelos? I don't think I ever heard of that one, is she of a similiar size to Regent Sky?

Regent Sky's sister ship, with Anek Lines in Greece.

The other two are with Stena, who originally ordered them.
