For those of you interested, I have just uploaded an illustrated 4-page Cruise Review of GRAND PRINCESS to my homepage at Passenger Ship Parade.
Part of the review are the 100 photos that I took of the ship and ports of call during a 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise last June. I have also added the ship's log and some dinner menus (including Sabatini's).

The August/September issue of Passenger Ship Parade can be found at http://psp.club.tip.nl . Please click on the link in the title picture to
proceed to the index, where you will find a list of all articles available on my website. You might also want to check out "Photo of the Week", which features PRINSENDAM. I you have visited my homepage recently, you might want to reload your browser to get the latest version.

I hope you enjoy your virtual cruise on Grand Princess!

Bart

Hi Bart, wonderful photographs and text as usual!

Here is a question: I have read most of your reviews, but probably not all. They always seem to be very positive – you obviously just love ships. Have you ever cruised or toured a ship that you have simply disliked?

Hello,

Excellent review/photos as usual Bart...

I am interested that your opinion is that Princess has the best mass-market cabins - I think those on the new RCCL ships (and I know you've been on many) are better.

I loved Grand Princess, including the service, but that was pre-Personal Choice.

I haven't been on a PC or Freestyle ship, but I don't have any great urge to either. It seems to me only logical that the "feeling" you describe as being gone, would be gone. So I am not rushing to book Princess at the moment - I'd just take traditional dining anyway.

Aside from that it is just the usual, great review from you .

Happy Cruising,
Cruiseny

Hi Malcolm,

Yes, I am a positive person - or at least I try to be. (huh huh) I think most cruises still represent excellent value for money and I'd hate to be a nitpicker. It seems so many people only have eye for the weaker parts of a cruise product - not me! I just loooove being on board cruise ships, and to me it is like a dream come true.

As to your question: I didn't like the old ODESSA very much. Spent one night on that ship sailing through the Kiel Canal. The decor was spartan, the food was simply awful and the service... oh well... :-) My pre-inaugural visit to MISTRAL was not a huge success either. She is a nice vessel in all respects, but I vividly remember the waiter who told us to "sit down and you will be served!".

All the best,
Bart

Congratulations Bart on very up beat review of the Grand Princess, and those wonderful pictures. We are due to get the Star Princess for four months in Australia at the end of next year to undertake the trip across the Tasman and around New Zealand, having done the cruise on the Sky Princess a few years ago.it was so rough in the great southern ocean that three ports were bipassed,so it will be interesting to see if this mega liner can cope with the strange weather of the southern ocean.
