cruise talk dinner table:

In one year since I last posted this idea, some passengers have disembarked, and new ones came aboard. If the following cruise talkers were all on the same ship, this is how I would assign dining tables based on compatibility and interests from reading their posts.

Since last year I gave myself all new tablemates just to meet with different people. Still like my previous ones

Joe and Malcolm eat at each table on a different night of the cruise.

If I forgot anyone or you don’t like your tablemates I am sorry.

Hmmm, topgun and Cruiseny at the same table? I would hope its a very long table, and that they are seated nowhere near each other- oh how the sparks would fly! Actually, I noticed that evryone at topgun's table is quite a bit younger than himself, is this an attempt to warm topgun's heart, or an attempt to drive him insane?

Fascinating .. looks like hours poring over a screen and a spreadsheet -- how long did it take you? (You really ought to get out more) ;-)

Which would be the noisiest table? Which group would still be there, long after the others have been cleared away? And which would be the biggest tippers?

Nice one, desirod6!

Interesting selection,
having already been on the same cruise as Pam, without knowing it at the time, it was spooky to see her name there. As Mrs B likes men with beards, that's why I have had for for almost 30 years, I think she would also get on with Mr.P.
Always liked the Irish sense of humour, and spent many a happy time there in my youth. Will have to dig out some posts from my other companions as their style does not spring to mind.
In truth after an excellent evening meal on a top ship in calm waters accompanied by a fine wine and a good Irish Coffee to finish the company and conversation at the dinner table would be outstanding.

We prefer a table for two where we will be receiving our entrees while the late-comers on the large tables are still trying to make up their minds.

Sounds good to me! We could work on our Seinfeld script during dinner!

Would this be first or second seating? I prefer second, but first would be ok.

Filet mignon, anyone?

Great job Desirod6. I bed we have some interesting and creative talks at our table. I do hope it is a second seating because you know what they say: time flies when your having fun.

And Ruth make that two Filet mignon.

Best wishes, Onno

I'm stealing the Captain's toast from the Delta Queen Steamboat Co. boats to give to all of my table partners.

Here's to you all, you all!
I'd like you to know, that our sentiments are honest and real.
May your hearts be as light and your days be as bright as the spray from our old paddlewheel!
Cheers!

I just hope I could hold my own among such esteemed company!

I put together the list before the Topgun/CruiseNY fracas about nothing happened. Seinfeld is suuposed to be the show about nothing.

The teens on this ship are great people.

Britanis, you can hold your own just fine.

looks like hours poring over a screen and a spreadsheet -- how long did it take you? (You really ought to get out more) ;-)[/QUOTE]

Sread, it took me about 20 minutes. I get out plenty. For another thread, I came accross cruisetalk when housebound for 6 weeks with a broken ankle, that is for another discussion.

Onno, we would end up redesigning the ship, and Ruth would produce great graphics. Britanis would ghostwrite the design brief LOL

I prefer second seating too.

Hello,

Aah... The (rather glitchy) software of this board told me my IP was banned a few hours ago... Went and watched the news and a "Senifeld" rerun, showered, and here I am - back.

Wonder if topgun somehow managed to hack into the system ?

I'd like rotating tables myself - I'd want to meet as many of you as possible.

Interesting combination, but I'd bet if we had rotating tables, and met everyone, then when we came back the table assignments would be different. We only get one dimension of what each other are like here.

Some of the people on your list I don't "know" too well... Notably Origo, OneMillennium, Darrell, CunardQueen, Stesir, and K&K.

If I were to do it, I'd probably change things around a little. But I think if each of us were to come up with combinations they'd all be a little different.

And of course there is the matter of who we seat ourselves with !

Happy Cruising,
Cruiseny

Cheers

PS: I would be interested to know too how you came up with putting who where

How did I come up with a list?

I did 2 years in a row people just by their posts and profiles, those within the same ages and hobbies. I mixed up some ages where people connected on board.

First time I had most of the Gay and Lesbian cruisetalkers at one table. This year gays and lesbians are spread out to each table. I put some surprise and unusual combinations just to make it interesting. There is one table that consists of people I believe no one would want to sit with.

Another topic worthy of discussion is how cruise lines assign tables when you dont have a large enough group for a private table

Only 2 out of 6 adult cruises did I have fully compatible table mates. As a child my family had a private table.

No wonder freestyle and personal choice dining is taking off.

My Simpsons and Seinfeld episode extra characters are some of the tablemates from hell I have sat with.

Why not a mix in table sizes? Some of the tables are perfect, but others do leave something to be desired...

I don't think any of the tables would be ones nobody would want to sit at...

Good day, all!

Great thread. You did a great job! Alas, when I looked for my seating assignment I started to panic when I didn't see my name! Then I looked at my ticket and forget that I was booked in the Queen Mary suite and would be dining in the Queen's Grill!!! Whew!

I'll see if I can come down to the Mauritania and say hi before I meet the captain for cockails

I am only kidding around. I have only been posting here a few months and don't feel left out at all. I got a kick out of the whole idea of your seating arrangement.

Perahps I can join you on the next cruise!

Have you ever thought about what jobs we would all have if we all worked on the same ship? That might be interresting. Of course we would all have to be heads of departments or officers of some sort.

Smooth Seas,
Michael534

I'd like to change tables please Mr. Maitre D...not that I don't like the company of:

Amerikanis
Kbozman
Origo
OneMillenium
Shamstar

They all seem to be fine people, but I think I would enjoy diner with people I know a little better.

I have come up with a little list of past and present Cruise-Talkers...I know there are many more names out there, but I have tried to come up with the ones I recognized. Perhaps Joe could make available in a post..a huge LIST of all Cruise Talkers, sorted by the date and year they entered??? I think that would be fascinating...

I agree with Jeff... I want open seating so we can meet more different people!

Barryboat - seems like lots of those people are no longer here... You must have a good memory!

I agree that most of the table assignments here seem very random... Not mine, it is just arranged stereotypically, and with topgun thrown in as my foil for good measure...
