We Would want something that would appeal to someone in late 50s. He likes to play the slots, enjoys good entertainment, not a big dancer, not real big on fancy dinners. Any suggestions on which Carnival ships would be good?
Reward points? How do you earn them?
Are you thinking only of a 'Carnival' ship or a ship sailing under it's own banner (HAL-Cunard-Seabourn-Windstar-Costa) - all really come under Carnival and each honours past-guest savings earned on any of the above Lines. We sailed Cunard and received a small discount because of previous sailings on HAL.
For the 50+ age group, a 'real Carnival ship' would not be my choice or recommendation.
Check out the SS Norway, a ship that can trace her history in your husband's memory; and a much, much classier ship than anything Carnival can offer as well. You mention "reward points". Are they really worth anything if you're buying an obnoxious cruise-experience? Check out some of the reviews for the Norway and Carnival ships posted here and elsewhere. Then take a look at the bang you can get for your buck on the Norway right now .
A perceived promotional discount is not a good reason to book a cruise. I hope you'll do a little research to find the ship that will best promise a wonderful vacation for you and your husband.
Like other cruise lines you can do as much or as little as you like. Carnival is not a party boat if you don't want a party boat. However, I must say that would depend on when you cruise. My wife and I sail in the Winter when school is in session. Therefore very few children and especially few to no college students.
Choose an itinery you would be interested in and don't feel obligated to participate in every activity the Carnival offers.
