The longest cruistalk thread ever, concerned intimacy and ships. Below is another, in this time honoured tradition.

Interestingly, Joe was far too scared to post it himself, in case it damaged his respectability.(He obviously thinks that I don't have any?)

**************************************************

A recent survey found that Americans really do get more action on vacation. According to the survey commissioned by Expedia.com, more than 70 percent of Americans agree that romance is important on vacation, with approximately 44 percent admitting they experience more intimacy with their partners when away from home.

Interestingly, the survey reveals some significant differences between the sexes. More men than women, for example, agree that romance is important (78 percent of men compared to 64 percent of women) and they have more physical intimacy (nearly 52 percent of men compared to 37 percent of women) while on vacation.

('The men are having more intimacy than women'? We will all have to form our own theories about that one! - Malcolm)

The survey also reveals that parents are engaging in more amorous activity while on a getaway - more than half (52%) are consummating their love compared to those without children at home (38%).

**************************************************

So CruiseTalkers, without going into too much detail, are the findings of this survey correct?

(Please notice that I avoided the obvious pun by not posting this in 'ShipMates')

Sounds right to me. But I also don't understand why it is not 50-50. Oh well.

Perhaps the men are doing more talking about it than women or just plain bragging?

Katie, according to the survey you are supposed to say "Yes".

It is interesting how many cruise ship cabins have twin beds, that cannot be put together, rather than doubles. The cruise lines have obviously got it all wrong!

Malcolm...... If the cruise lines had more beds that pushed together that would take away from your other thread(and we allll know which one that was) that probably needs to be resurected.

Hang on Mary, there is another possibility other than the "men are all talk" theory.

The women were not as romantically inclined on cruises as thier men. So the men obviously made their own entertainment!

Scottylass, you're so funny!!!!!

Wonder why less women are interested on cruises????

You'd think that being away from a regular routine with no cooking or household worries, etc women would be really INTERESTED.

Well, hate to be crude but even with my recent heart problems, I've packed my candles and music CDs, some lovely silky things to wear when we're alone, and his favourite perfume.

That means if you don't see a review of my cruise on the Pride when I get back then you'll know that I left this earth with a BIG SMILE on my face !!!

Leave the candles at home...they're a fire hazard and you'll be setting the alarms off.

For the Balcony!!! They are the small kind in the recessed blue glasses where they won't blow out.

Hey, your name is Peter. You're supposed to be in the 78% with all the intimacy going on here.

The survey also said:

Destination plays a large role in planning a romantic vacation. A beach or tropical island vacation is preferred most among men and women for a romantic or sexy getaway, with a cruise the second most popular choice. Active adventures and outdoor vacations are third, followed by excursions to popular European and U.S. cities.

So, where would Americans go if they could take a romantic trip anywhere in the world? Nearly a third (32%) prefer a domestic location, with Hawaii being the most popular destination, followed by Florida. Europe is the second most popular region (26%), with cities in Italy and Greece tying for first place, followed by London and Paris.

*************************************************

So CruiseTalkers, what is your idea of a romantic destination?

Who needs beds that can push together. My husband keeps having this fantasy about an elevator. I guess we just better not book our next cruise on a ship that had a glass elevator .

Here's a good one for you though. For our honeymoon, RCL upgraded us to an outside cabin.... with single beds that couldn't be push together and then refused to fix it! I guess we should have considered the elevator back then. Instead we switched cabins with a mother and daughter who had an inside cabin but with movable beds. We were all happy in the end.

Malcolm

I sure hope you're right about Hawaii So far, going to Florida hasn't helped
I'm still ROTFLMAO about men (52%) versus women's stats (37%) regarding lovemaking. I guess the "extra" lovemaking occurs when the spouse is shopping LOL!. Can't wait to tell a "fish" story when we return from Hawaii

Katie - I have to loudly second 'gohaze' - candles are a NO NO and for heaven's sake please don't tie your balcony doors open with the bunge cord - screws up the air conditioning for your neighbours! Turn out the lights - with luck, you'll have moonlight! With a balcony cabin you'll have a CD player - pack your favourites!

Happy cruisin'

Okay, okay Green and Gohaze, excuse my ignorance. I hadn't thought about it!!!
The candles are already gone out of the luggage!!!
Thanks for the advice.
Hey, you mean I'll have a CD player automatically with a balcony cabin? Are you SURE? On the PRIDE?
Thanks Malcolm for your vote of confidence!!! LOL!

Laura Berman, Ph.D., sex educator/therapist says:

"Romance and a healthy sex life play a very important role in relationships," said "Often a romantic getaway provides an opportunity to reconnect and block out the distractions that
can keep couples from being intimate as often as they would like at home.

A romantic jaunt can often times help recharge those emotions and get couples back on track if they've fallen off."

So there you have it, medical science has now proved that it is essential for you to book that next cruise.

It would be foolish to ignore the Doctor!
